OH HAI. How are you? To say it's been a while would be something of an understatement. While I've never been a prolific poster, somehow all of September and most of October has managed to slip past without my posting anything at all. Thankfully, this was not due to some personal crisis or other. Unfortunately, neither was it due to a gripping, drama-filled life of dry martinis, damp men and plot twists of indeterminate moisture content.
No, life of the last two months has been a pleasant if mostly prosaic affair: bills have been paid, work has been done, beds have been made and teeth have been brushed. Punctuating this steady hum of living have been moments of life with friends: drinks, food, talk, dreams, love and hugs. A few of these moments have even made it onto
my Flickr page. There have been times of stress and frustration with the horrors of work, but also of pride in jobs well done and a career gaining traction. However, trying to recall and report on the minutiae of my life after the fact was proving to be as excruciating to write (and more importantly to read) as one of those 'What I Did On My Holiday' junior school essays. Believe me.
Recently, in talking with
mutleyjames about my absence from LJ, it's become clearer to me that perhaps my postings are infrequent primarily because I've never attempted to post except what's been perfectly crafted. Now, an obsessive attention to detail might serve me well in a job where having to spend half an hour retouching a single eyebrow is not entirely unusual. It does, however, suck some of the immediacy and plain old-fashioned fun out of posting, as evidenced by the folder on my hard drive of half-written posts that never were. So, as part of a bold personal experiment I will be posting something at least once a day for the next 7 days. Now, I make no claim as to quality of these future posts, just their frequency. Let the mild entertainment begin!
Oh, and it goes without saying: missed you guys, and it's great to be back. x
