[Fanfic] Missing Piece : Chapter 8

Jun 25, 2009 14:30

Shige avoided Ryo for one whole week after that dream. He was confused. How could Yamapi easily dismiss the fact that Shige had fallen for his very own twin.

It was wrong, everything was terribly wrong. This was all a sick joke. He couldn’t be in love with Ryo while he had been living because of Tomohisa.

The ringing of his mobile drew Shige’s attention. He reached out for the mobile which was on the desk and studied the Caller ID.

“Ryo-kun.” was blinking furiously on the screen. Shige didn’t hesitated to put the mobile back on the desk and ignore the call.

###

Ryo growled loudly when instead of an answer, a recorded message started to tell Ryo to leave a message behind. He snapped his mobile shut and threw it across the room. Luckily, it landed on his bed if not when he finally calmed down he might have to replace his mobile.

That time, the next morning, Ryo found a note in the room Shige had slept. Shige had written that he had left early because of some urgent matter and was sorry that he couldn’t spend more time with him. He didn’t mention anything about the kiss that night before.

Ryo too tried to forget it but it was hard. He couldn’t deny the fact that he had feeling for Shige anymore.

“Shit.” He ran his fingers through his hair. “Why did I promise to take care of you?”

###

“Hey, Shige. How do you do?”

Shige looked up from the book which he wasn’t reading at all to find a full on smiling face right before him.

“Junno.”

“What are you reading?” Junno, still smiling, took the seat across the table and leant forward to get a better look at the book.

“Oh just some random stuff.” Shige said, pushing the book towards Junno.

Junno looked at the book curiously and then looked back up at Shige with confusion. “How…you were reading the book upside down!”

“What?”

Junno pointed at the book and Shige finally noticed it. Blushing, he grinned.

“What is it? Spill it out.” Junno said, pushing the book aside.

“What?”

“You are spacing out again, Shige. What is going on? Is it about those twins again?”

“…”

“What happened?”

“I kissed him again.” Shige muttered. “Oh man, I don’t know what to do anymore. I am in love with my boyfriend’s twin brother.” Shige buried his face in his hands and groaned.

Junno reached across the table and patted his friend comfortingly. “If that makes you feel better, my Tat-chan said he knows that Ryo guy. They were in the same high school.”

“Really?” Shige asked, peering up at Junno.

“Yep.” Junno nodded. “And he said that Ryo wasn’t a very pleasant guy, he got into at least a fight a day but his brother, I think that was Tomohisa, your boyfriend?” Shige nodded. Junno continued. “Tat-chan said he was really quite and kind and a very popular guy.”

“Was Tatsuya-san friend with them?”

“Ah, I am not sure, why didn’t you ask Tat-chan? I’m going to meet him after my last lecture.”

“Ah…ok.” Shige was very curious to find out more of the two’s school lives.

“Ok. Now, let’s go to the lecture we are supposed to have in five minute.”

“What? I have been sitting here for that long?”

“Hai.”

###

“Tat-chan, it’s me, Junno.” Junno knocked on the office door.

“Oh, come in.” Tat-chan’s voice came through the closed door.

Junno opened it and gestured Shige to go in first. Junno followed behind and closed the door.

“Oh, you are here too, Shige. Sit and make yourself comfortable.”

“Sorry to intrude.” Shige said, sitting on a chair.

Tatsuya was an assistant professor. He was quite young to be a professor but that didn’t mean students didn’t respect him. It was the opposite. Shige and Junno were probably the only two people that had seen Tatsuya’s smiling face and warm personality.

“Shige here wants to ask about Yamashita twins.”

“Oh.”

“Hai. Were…were you friend with them?” Shige looked expectantly at Tatsuya.

“Friends?” Tatsuya smiled. “Well, I was with one of them. With the other, it was more of a nemesis.”

“Oh, can I ask which one?” Shige had already had an idea of who.

“Ryo. He and I just didn’t get along. Tomohisa always had to break up our fist fights or verbal insults.”

“Ah, I am not surprised.” Shige said.

Tatsuya’s smiled broadened. “But there was this one time Ryo cried on my shoulder.”

“What?” two voices shouted in unison. Shige looked shocked and Junno looked both shocked and jealous.

“Yeah. The girl he loved fell for Tomohisa and he was confused. He didn’t know what to do and also Tomohisa confessed to that girl without knowing that Ryo loved her too. Anyway, that time I was the only close person around him so maybe I was the only one he could cry on that time.” Tatsuya explained. “Oi, Junno, don’t look so jealous. Nothing happened.”

“I can’t help it.”

“They fell for same girl?” Shige asked.

Tatsuya nodded. “Although they can’t read each other thoughts or stuff, they had same taste on a lot of things.”

“Same taste?”

“I guess Ryo was the one who usually gave up in the end.” Tatsuya said with a faraway look.

“There is something you are not telling me.” Shige pointed, noticing the look.

“Ah, it is something you should hear from Ryo. I am not the one to say it.”

###

“Okaeri.” Shige shouted as he stepped into the house and took off his shoes.

“Tadaima.” His mother appeared at the entry way. “Your friend is waiting for you in the living room.”

“My friend?”

“Yeah, he had been here for a while now.”

Shige made way to the living room. Who could it be? He just parted way with Junno and there was no one really close to him at the university that could pop up at his house suddenly. Maybe someone from his childhood? But with his illness, Shige made only a few friends and they would inform him before coming over. There was only one left, could it be…

“Ryo?!”

Ryo looked up from where he was sitting. “Shige.”

“What are you doing here?”

“I couldn’t get you on the phone, so…”

“Let’s go to my room.” Shige said, walking to the stairs. “Mom, we will be in my room.”

Ryo quietly followed the younger man.

“Look, what happened that night was because of the alcohol. Nothing more.” Shige said quickly as soon as they were in the safety of Shige’s bedroom.

“But you only drank a can.” Ryo pointed out.

“My alcohol tolerant is really low.” Shige reasoned.

“And my alcohol tolerant isn’t and I wasn’t drunk that night.” Ryo snapped.

Shige was shocked at Ryo’s sudden anger.

Ryo dropped down weakly on the floor, leaning against Shige’s bed. Shige was standing near the door.

“I am sorry I snapped at you.” Ryo said softly. “I…Shige, it’s no good denying it.”

“Denying?” Shige repeated the word. “What are you talking about? Who is denying what? We are not denying anything here, Ryo.”

“Oh yes we are. We are denying the bloody fact that something is going on between us.” Ryo’s voice raised a little.

“And who started it? Tell me? Who was the one that said “Forget it” after the both time we kissed, huh? You were the one who fucking started all of it.” Shige was speaking not so softly now.

“And who was the one that ran away on the second time? Who was the one that had been avoiding all the time? Tell me.”

Both of them were shouting out their lungs now.

There was a knock on the door, followed by a worried voice. “Is everything ok in there?”

Shige took a deep breath. “Everything is fine, mom. Just leave us alone for a while.”

“Ok. I will leave the tea and snack outside. Call me if you need anything.” And Shige listened till the sound of his mother’s footsteps faded away.

After that, Shige opened the door to take a tray of teas and snacks in. Then they awkwardly stood and the silence washed over them as they stared at each other.

“God damnit, we are both denying it, the fact that we are in love with each other.” Ryo muttered, sitting back down again. He had stood up again in the middle of shouting match just now.

“What did you say?” Shige asked, sitting down too.

“We are in love.”

“What? No, we are not in love, I repeat. We,’ Shige gestured between him and Ryo, ‘Not.In.Love.”

“Oh for god’s sake, will you stop that? I love you and you love me. There is nothing we can do about that.”

“But…we…”

“Shut up Shige.” Ryo cut him off. He then sighed and, “Come over here.”

“Over where?”

“Here.” Ryo said, patting the space right before him.

Shige looked at Ryo for a while, contemplating. But in the end, he found himself crawling to where Ryo was.

As soon as they were closed enough, Ryo reached out, wrapping his hand around Shige’s neck and pushed him forwards by the nape and kissed Shige hungrily.

Shige was startled and his wide-eyes stared at Ryo’s closed ones. But it didn’t long for his eyes to copy Ryo’s.

They drowned in the suppressed and hidden pleasure and both of them were in too deep to stop it now.

“Oh god, I can’t believe I did it.” Shige’s disbelief voice said in horror. Beside him, Ryo groaned.

“Come on Shige. We are not going through another shouting match again. I’m tired and you are too. Let’s just sleep and talk about it tomorrow.”

“No. I…I didn’t even go this far with Tomohisa…we…”

“For the love of god, you only gave me a hand job and I gave you a blowjob in return. What is so bad about that? And you were too sick to do any sex when you two were dating. But I bet you two at least had some hand jobs.”

“And that was all we had. Blowjob….oh god and we are not even dating or in love.”

“We have gone through it Shige. We are both in love with each other and about the dating thing we can solve it by start dating.”

“But you have a girl…”

“Shit, Shige. Shut up and sleep. I am tired. I haven’t been sleeping well for a whole week.” Ryo turned to look at Shige. “And stop worrying over nothing, Tomohisa, my twin brother is dead.” And Ryo closed his eyes and was asleep in a second.

Shige wanted so much to punch Ryo out of his sleep but again looking at Ryo’s face, a warm feeling washed over him. Ryo was like a baby, sleeping like that.

###

Shige’s eyes fluttered open. He didn’t know when he fell asleep. He sat up. He was on a bed. The last he remembered he was sleeping on the floor.

“Shige.” A very soft and familiar voice called out his name.

He turned to where the sound came from and found his former lover there. “Tomohisa.”

Tomohisa had a sad smile on his lips. “You really love him.”

“Tomohisa…I am…am so sorry. I didn’t,” Tears fell down from his face. He couldn’t stop crying.

Tomohisa was on his side in a flash. And he pulled Shige into a warm embrace. How a death person’s embrace could be warm was beyond Shige’s understanding.

“Hush, Shige. Don’t cry.” Tomohisa was rubbing soothing circles on Shige’s back. He buried his nose into Shige’s soft hair. “Don’t cry, baby. You did nothing wrong.”

“But…you are…angry.”

“Nononono, I’m not. I’m happy for you. I really am. I love you so much Shige, all I want is your happiness. Whether it is because of me or because of someone else, as long as you are happy, it’s ok. That’s all I want.”

Shige hugged Tomohisa tighter, burying his face deeper into Tomohisa’s chest. “I love you, Tomohisa. I still do but now I also love Ryo. And it is wrong. I should not be in love with him. I am bad, Tomohisa.”

“No, you are not. And it’s not wrong.” Tomohisa pulled back from the embrace so that he could look at Shige’s face. “Look at me, Shige. I know what is going on in that little head of yours. I donated my heart because I want to. And I am dead; you and I can’t be together anymore.  You have every right to move on and fall for someone else even if that someone is my twin.”

“Tomohisa.” Shige sobbed.

“I gave you my heart because I wanted you to live more than you wanted. I need you to continue living. I wanted to have my heart beating inside you.” Tomohisa leant forward and pressed his lips on Shige’s.

When they finally broke away, Tomohisa said grimacing “Well, that was wet.”

“Oi, I was crying ok.” Shige retorted, pouting.

Tomohisa grinned. “And it was salty too.” But he pressed another kiss on Shige’s lips before the other could reply. This time when he pulled away, “But I always love kissing you because you are Shige.”

Tears became to well up in Shige’s eyes again.

“Hey, don’t cry again. I don’t want to comfort a crybaby again. Save it for Ryo.”

Shige glared at him. Tomohisa laughed. “Really, it’s time he started taking the role of a boyfriend too since he had confessed.” He then turned serious. “And Shige, don’t ever lie to yourself again. Be true to yourself and your feeling.” He brushed his thumps on Shige’s tear stained cheeks. “I love you.”

Ryo wasn’t a morning person although he was a nurse. And it was worse when it was on his holiday. So, the hand that was constantly shaking him and that voice calling his name was really irritating him.

“Ryo” shake shake. “Ryo, wake up.” shake shake. “Ryo-chan wake up.” shake sha…

“What?” He sat up abruptly, startling the one waking him up.

“You are up.” Shige said in a strange voice.

Ryo’s sleepy eyes finally took in Shige’s face and, “God, are you crying? What happened?”

“I…Tomohisa told me to save it for you.”

“What?”

But Shige didn’t answer instead he buried his face in the crook of Ryo’s neck and became sobbing.

A stunned and confused Ryo had nothing to do but comfort the crying baby in his arms.
