I've actually decided to write something besides my sad sorry life :))
I'm sure some of you will think of me weirdly, when you realize the fandom of which this story is from XDDDD I hope I don't get booed into the next millennium. Be gentle, kay? I haven't written anything in months. So here goes.
Title: No Room for Words
Rating: It's G rated kids.
Pairing: Isagani/Paulita
Genre: Isagani!Angst. [because he totally should have his own kind of Angst]
Summary: But he knew that talking to her was pointless now - he's moved on. Besides, there's nothing left to say.
The first time Isagani told Paulita that he loved her, she stared at him like he was a fool. Then, telling him in the most patronizing tone that she had, “Of course, why wouldn’t you?”
He was a little bit embarrassed and reasoned that it was probably too early for her. After all, it’s only been a few of months since he started his courtship. While he fell head over heels for her, the same could not be said for Paulita. To her, he was just another suitor.
The first time Isagani held Paulita’s hand in public, she pulled away very quickly. She turned to face him and told him flat out never to do that again. It was unseemly for a young lady of her status to be seen quite intimate with a Filipino priest’s ward. She walked away after that and clutched the handle of her little payong with both hands.
That one broke his heart a little. He wasn’t dense - he knew that that was a message aimed at him.
The first time Isagani gave Paulita a gift, he expected a grand gesture of gratitude to follow. It was a quill he got from a rare beautiful bird. He also gave her a journal, “To write down your most precious thoughts.” He said. To which she responded with a blunt “What good are these to me?”
He stood there, dumbfounded. Hurt almost that she could not even make the effort to mask her disappointment. It seems now that it was an afternoon wasted of slaying over the perfect gift for her.
The first time Isagani told Paulita he was jealous, she could not care less. But in fairness, in her own Paulita way, she told him he had nothing to worry about. ”Besides,” she said. “It’s only normal to be jealous. With all the others out there pining pathetically, I mean.”
He noted that in her own way, she showed him that he matters. He was happy. It gave him hope that maybe she was starting to develop feelings for him too.
The first time Isagani cried over Paulita, he just got out of jail and learned of her engagement with that toad, Juanito Pelaez. She had nothing to say to him, but he had a lot to ask her. She had moved on and he had no closure.
He was undoubtedly furious. He raged at anyone and often at the misfortune of some prized possessions at home. He was confused - feeling as though he was missing something very important. Mostly though, he was hurt. And after all the rage and confusion, an overwhelming sense of pain over came him.
And after that pain, it was just numbness.
Twenty years later they met again - this time under different circumstances. He - with his head bowed and brows furrowed - was reading and she with her young ones vying for her attention. They had literally bumped into each other, neither paying much attention to where they were going.
They looked up at the same time.
The first time Isagani smiled - truly smiled, not the strained ones he gave her when she was being difficult - at Paulita, he was twenty years older. He waved a tiny wave and started walking away before she could even form any words.
He was content with how his life turned out to be, despite everything that had happened. At the same time, he was pleasantly surprised to see her. But he knew that talking to her was pointless now - he's moved on.
Besides, there was nothing left to say.
