Summer Wars
I had heard a lot about this movie, read a bit about the plot, listened to the acclaim, and generally thought the whole story sounded somewhat underwhelming.
And I was wrong.
The plot is really... well, not especially believable, unnecessarily epic, and quite a coincidence in the end, but it's a movie that's about the growing characters and not so much about the actual events. On that level, I thought it was really fun and quite well done. I don't really know how else to put it. It's too late and I feel like writing, but I just thought this film stands out quite nicely. It's probably one of the best animes I've seen in recent years.
