Class of 2005

As 2005 draws to a close and everyone starts to fondly remember shit that never actually happened, BUST! reminds you of some fucking decent hardcore that came out of Australia this year. From an increasingly stagnant scene, these bands have given us hope that the next generation of Australian hardcore will not be dominated by fashion kids and drama queens. Please, join me as BUST! Online Zine presents the Class of 2005.

Name: KING BROWN!
Location: North West Melbourne
Members: Cheyneo - bass, Mickey - drums, H - guitar, Carlson - voice
Releases - Planned or Available: Demonstration CD is out now you can get it off us for 2 bucks and we are going to do an EP as soon as we can be fucked
Musically speaking, if two bands mated to form a child that was King Brown, they would be: hard one.....a very drunk Robert Goulay and Carcass of Lisa 'Left Eye' Lopes
The best thing about Australian hardcore is: MINDSNARE. That was a stupid question. Other good things are BBQ's, Meathead, people lending gear, the stage at Stonecutters, Big Mick and house partys at T Bone's or Matty B's. Special mention to my new flip phone.
If your band were to meet a stranger, which of the three traditionally taboo subjects would they be most likely to discuss - sex, politics or religion: Three way with Amanda Vanstone and the Pope (just to cover everything....we like to chat)
Next show: 7th of Jan at the Arthouse. Also playing A-town in March.

Name: Extortion
Location: Excitement Town, a.k.a Perth.
Members: Dan - bass, Jay - Guitar and sleep, Rhys - drums, Rohan - vocals.
Releases - Planned or Available: Demo released earlier this year. 7" currently being pressed. A complication LP with some other Australian bands An LP to be recorded in Feb that will fuck you up!
Musically speaking, if two bands mated to form a child that was Extortion, they would be: Infest and Negative fx. Born in the same hospital that some of the cast of House Gang were born in.
The best thing about Australian hardcore is: Schifosi.
If your band were to meet a stranger, which of the three traditionally taboo subjects would they be most likely to discuss - sex, politics or religion: Religion cos God is great. Praise be to Allah.
Next show: Sunday 18th Dec at HQ Skatepark

Name: Jaws
Location: Perth
Members: Aaron - vocals, Anton - bass, James - drums, Rhys - guitar, Scott - guitar
Releases - Planned or Available: Demo released a few weeks ago through CommonBond Records.
Musically speaking, if two bands mated to form a child that was Jaws, they would be: Minor Threat and Dag Nasty.
The best thing about Australian hardcore is: Chris Onton.
If your band were to meet a stranger, which of the three traditionally taboo subjects would they be most likely to discuss - sex, politics or religion: Sex becuase we're a fuckin' good looking band.
Next show:Saturday 17th Dec at HQ Skatepark.

Musically speaking, if two bands mated to form a child that was 50 Lions!, they would be: It would be a gang bang between No Warning, Cold World, Murder Weapon, Kids like Us and Guns Up!
The best thing about Australian hardcore is: Definitely the hangouts, friends, singalongs, moshing n shit. Standard hardcore stuff.
If your band were to meet a stranger, which of the three traditionally taboo subjects would they be most likely to discuss - sex, politics or religion: Well we're all young dudes (17-20 year olds) so I'd say sex. Yup sex, haha.

Musically speaking, if two bands mated to form a child that was Samsara, they would be: Hatebreed and Terror but if there was a threesome it would also involve 100 Demons
The best thing about Australian hardcore is: The awesome people and bands. We have met some of our best friends through this scene, lifelong brothers, which is awesome. The way people look after you when you are interstate is unreal, they make you feel so welcome and it sucks at the end when you have to come home because you want to hang out forever...
If your band were to meet a stranger, which of the three traditionally taboo subjects would they be most likely to discuss - sex, politics or religion: Sex, and how much our singer doesn't get!
