(no subject)
havent really been on lj in a while... ive even forgot to check up on reading about friends recently.
...reading back, it feels like much longer...
trying to get my life a little more managed.
this is Officially my First Full Weekend Off in Over Six Months!! (yes!) i have had some days off in the past, but they werent regular, nor were they spaced within weeks of each other.
it is much needed, to say the least.
i took, and passed, my PV (photovoltaic (solar)) installer test today, so i am now a Certified Solar Installer in the state of Nevada. this at least means i get a pay raise. woo-hoo!
...as far as my car is concerned, i feel like i Have to be close to getting it fixed, and then when it Is fixed, should run for a fairly long time considering how much i've been putting into it over the past months.
upon recommendations and my own research, i have recently replaced the MAF sensor, EGR valve and catalytic converter... my car seemed to run worse.
i finally got a good scan tool and pulled a couple low-voltage codes... -my battery doesnt seem to hold a very good charge, and my alternator seems to be making slight grinding noises... the battery tested fine. if the alternator tests fine (will test next day or two), and i dont have a bad ground in the electrical system, there could be a short somewhere, and my entire vehicular problems could be electrical, which may be beyond my capacities as a vehicle repairman (at this point in time).
that being said, my car still isnt working, and i am starting to look into getting a second vehicle when the funds are available... preferably something cheap (under a grand) that runs or needs minor work (or major work i am capable of accomplishing for cheap). i would prefer a truck or something with clearance and/or 4-wheel drive, since thats what i kind of want anyways. ...the only thing is money... ive put so much money into the jetta that i could have bought another vehicle (or two). at the same time, ive put so much money And Time on it, that i dont want to let it go just yet.
-my main concern and reasoning behind wanting another vehicle is getting out and about. ive been fortunate enough to get rides from other people as needed, and having other things close enough that i can get to myself. there are still plenty of things i have been wanting to do but have been unable to do so because they arent a "necessity" and therefor i cannot justify using someone else to get myself there. needless to say, much time time has been spent at home. i can also work on my other car in the meantime, and when That is fixed, i can make the other better or sell it.
i hope to post more soon... there are still tons of pictures and info yet to be posted.
