I went to Ibiza over the weekend and enjoyed the brief spurt of sun and paella. It was my uncle's 60th birthday and his Spanish wife's nephew knew the owner of a restaurant so the paella was a professional one. Olives until I almost burst and copious amounts of sparkling wine and very good Spanish red finished off a very enjoyable celebration.
Apart from that, I went shopping for clothes as they tend to be cheaper there than in Germany. At least if you know the right shops. I ended up buying stuff in 'Springfield' whose outlet is a men's clothing only shop in Ibiza. It is, however, very confusing if you leave the shop with a bag full of stuff that says "Women's Secrets" on the outside. Such cross-marketing can be very embarassing and I double-checked if I had entered the right shop. I cumbled up the bag and put it under my arm.
I also spotted a very strange sign above a garage which read:
"Man spricht Deutsch
On parlez Francais
Scottish English
American spoken"
Made me smile and I thought of
northwatfordgap immediately.
One of the advantages of having an aunt and uncle who are allowed to enter the tarmac at Ibiza airport is that you will get a VIP pickup. I wondered what the other passangers thought who I might be that I get picked up at the plane. The other perk is that on the return flight, you get the window place right next to the emergency exit which means extra leg space in an otherwise crowded and narrow plane. :)
Lastly, sorry to all veggies but I liked this one too much:
