I am waiting for the rain to start falling. I walked home from the usual aerobic-pass tonight, and when I crossed the railway I could see the clouds gathering. Lots of small insects fly outside my window, and the heat is still almost smoldering. A bit of a wind comes from the west. I want to have a good old thunderstorm. It has been so warm now that we need it. They promised us rain yesterday but all we got was a thin drizzle during the night. Open the skies and pour, please.

Have finished Robin McKinley's Sunshine and Alicia Rasley's Poetic Justice this week.
Cannot decide what I thought about Sunshine. I found many things in the book compelling and the "new" take on vampires was good. But I would have liked to see more of the actual vampire. He was fascinating in his otherness, and he disappears far too soon in the story, just to make a short comeback in the end. I did like the baking-scenes though, made me want to make cinnamon-rolls myself. All the domestic scenes filled some function. But as many have written over at amazon, some more meat on the Others wouldn't have been bad.
Poetic Justice was just pure fluff, but really well crafted for it's genre. Bookish regency-stuff is never wrong, especially not when both the hero and the heroine are smart and their attraction works.

Can't find Hollinghurst's the Swimmingpool library so I haven't finished that one yet. Where can it be? Have worked a bit on the essay, and read Nicola Humble again. One and a half week until I leave town, must be done by then.
