Book packages

Stayed home and waited for the cable guy today, and fantastically enough he arrived within the announced time. And then I had to clean the flat, and throw away a ton of old newspapers, but I still haven't done the rest of the washing up.

And then I went out into the surprisingly cold wind to collect a bunch of books that had arrived. Strange mix of ( Read more... )

Oh I can find you dozens of people who're after Point of Hopes if you really do have a copy to pass on! I think there was someone in Germany finding it particularly hard to get hold of a copy without paying a fortune... Let me know if you'd like me to ask - they'd love you forever! (I adore those books...)

ETA - Cos you know - B/D, right?!

Tell them to get in touch. I bought it for £ 7,47 but would willingly part with it to a fan for just the cost of postage. (feel bad even for that, but I'm on a student budget) The copy is very nice and clean, practically never read, with a "Harris County Public Library - Houston, Texas" sticker inside. Actually, I think I'd rather send the paperback, cheaper postage too, and also in very good condition. I think the postage would be either 44 Skr or 75 Skr to Germany from Sweden, depending on if the books weighs more than 250g.

You're a star - the person I was thinking of isn't actually in Germany after all *headdesk* but I've pointed her in your direction!

Let me know if she doesn't get in touch though, and if no one else seems to want it - I'd be happy to have an extra copy ready for someone's birthday... *g*

Please post about what you think about The Manuscript Found at Saragossa! I keep seeing it turn up in lists of "fantastic novels you've never heard of but must read" but I've never read it myself, and it's long enough to not want to even start unless I think it'll be worth reading.

Oooh. What are the Crispin and the Potocki about?

Crispin's book is about Gervase Fen, "idiosyncratic Oxford don and amateur detective". First published in the 1940s, Vintage Books has reissued at least 3 of Crispin's novels, and I'm currently reading The Moving Toyshop and liking it very much. Holy Disorders seems to take place in a cathedral town, and involve witchcraft, Nazis and an international espionage plot, if the blurb on the back is correct. I enjoy Crispin's light touch and play with the genre, lots of literary references and games going on (of which I get maybe half *g*). Actually, I got another one of the titles in the post today, Love lies bleeding, so as you see I'm pretty fond of the series ( ... )
