Longing for Gothenburg

I have a major case of hometown nostalgia today. I'm going there on Friday after all
dad has been relatively well since my last post, and it seems like it was the medicines fucking up yet again. I wouldn't go up there on my own, but now my sister is coming as well, and I have a ton of things to do, meeting friends etc so I think it will be ok after all. I just need to keep focusing on the good stuff and ignore the rest.
, and I've been catching up with old friends and thinking about my town. So of course Gothenburg pops up everywhere. Long article in New York Times, with a Travel Guide, all about how hip and up and coming Gothenburg is.
(just one small caveat about the "hippest kids" in the photo shoot, I'd rather call them major "brats" with the Swedish connotation of "rich spoiled upper-class kids" to the word). Otherwise the article is pretty good if a bit too arty-farty ?
It's pretty good at describing the "younger sibling" state of the city. We'll always be number 2 compared to Stockholm, but also always remain the city on the west coast, closest to the open sea and the U.K..  I got lost in the wikitravel post on Gothenburg as well. It's just such a nice town. Why on earth don't I live there? *g* Isn't it always like that? Everything looks better at a distance.. But now I'm heading up to the Book Fair there this week end and hopefully the city will live up to my nostalgia.

EDT: Btw, I haven't smoked a cigarette since Monday last week! Looks like I've managed to kick the habit.. until next time I see my brother.. Feel a bit tired but otherwise much healthier. Haven't coughed since I stopped.. Yay!! And my wallet is much happier too.
