I'm here to update you people about my trip to Baltimore last weekend. Of course, I was there for the Red Sox vs. the Orioles at Cameden Yard. Before I get down to details, I have to say it was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed my trip there. Baltimore has really changed since the last time I was there. Granted, I haven't been there since 1990. The last time I was there, the city look like its on a downward slope, it had such a depressing atomsphere. Now the city has put some serious money into its rebuilding, and it felt so much livier.
Friday: We (me, Manny, Brandon and Anthony) left New York City a little after 2. We were all hoping to leave earlier, but due situation beyond my control, we didn't go until then. The traffic was actually pretty smooth, besides a few congestions in Jersey and Deleware.
We arrived at Baltimore around 6:30ish. To our amazement, we were able to get front rowl seat tickets for that night's game for only $15. Before the game started, I was troubled about the Sox's starting pitcher, Matt Clement. Last year, Matt Clement was our pitching ace during to Curt Schilling's injury, and Pedro Martinez leaving for the Mets. Of course Clement was never the same after that game against the Devil Rays where he took a ball to the head. And he was shaky during Spring training. By game time, O's starting pitcher Daniel Carbera had nothing, walking 6 BoSox batters, give us a quick 4 run lead. Matt went to work and was awesome for the 6 innings. We won 16-8. I'm not here to recap the game, you can read it off ESPN.com or something.
Anyhow Camaden Yard is a beautiful ball park, and they even served BBQ ribs inside of it. $12 or not, I wasn't about to pass on BBQ ribs and it was pretty good. The coolest thing was I was 3 feet away from a Trot Nixon homer. I think if I jumped I might've caught that ball. I have never seen a ball that close to me before. That was pretty damn cool. About 5 innings into the game, a thunderstorm begin to develop. Although the rain fall was pretty minium, watching a baseball game with lightning and thunder at the background is a pretty amazing sight to behold. Plus the game time temperture was in the 70s.
After the game, we walked to the harbor for some dinner. Screw my diet, I'm going to have crab cakes just an hour or so after I had that plate of ribs at the park. After all, I'm on vacation, man! Totally living up to expectations, Maryland crab cakes is as good as its reputationed to be.
Now its time to check into our hotel. I was hoping to get some solid sleep before tomorrow's full day. Well that didn't happen, since Manny snored like a water bufflo. I honestly didn't think I had more than an hour of sleep that night. Man, did that ever suck!
I'll continue tomorrow with my Saturday report. Go Sox!
