Welcome to the Jungle

Okay people, here's my official review for the remake of Peter Jackson's "King Kong." First of all, its good, its really good. Everything's there: great casting (I don't even dislike Jack Black in this one), beautiful cinematography (New Zealand again!), awesome SFX. Now is 3+ hours too long? Yes, you damn skippy it is. There's a bunch of stuff, that was really uncessary in this movie nor did it make sense (in a scientific level), I don't want to write about it, because I hate to ruin it for you. And if Peter Jackson gives this the Lord of the Rings treatment, and release a 4 discs director's cut version, I can't imagine how many sittings will it take me to finish watching that version. Another problem I have with the movie, which my friend Brandon also shares is that it seems that Jackson likes to use these 3 different shots over and over again, as he did in the Lord of the Rings trilogy: 1) the group treking squence from a pan from far 2) the deep back and forth stare between the leading actor(s) 3) the climbing sequence from up to down. I'm a fan of Jackson's work, but it gets pretty repeatitive. Still its a great movie, I love the recreation of Great Depression Era New York City. So go see it! Word of advice, go to bathroom before the movie starts, unless you have Kong like bladder. Because for me, that middium cup of cherry coke was quite torturious at the last 30 minutes.
