Ozzfest Bands & Dates Officially Announced!

The titan of summer concert tours returns for its 10th year of ass-kicking. Ozzfest this year looks to be bigger, badder, and heavier than any of years past. 17 bands were announced today with more still to come! Ozzfest kicks off this year starting in Boston, MA and ending in West Palm Beach, FL.

Here are the bands and dates (along with my thoughts on the bands).

BLACK SABBATH- The gods of heavy metal come back to claim their headlining spot from last year. Very good stage show and the old guys still know how to kick ass and live up to the term "headliner".
IRON MAIDEN- Legendary metal band often muttered in the same breath as Black Sabbath. SMNnews.com reports that Maiden will only be playing songs from their first four albums, which means plenty of kick ass classic tunes.
SHADOWS FALL- Personally my favorite band. These guys kick more ass musically and stage wise and always keep the pits moving. This band is the reason I am getting the hundred dollar pit tickets, and it'll be worth every penny.
BLACK LABEL SOCIETY- Zakk Wylde returns to his usual spot as main stage opener. With the new album "Mafia" just being released, i'm sure we'll hear some of the tunes from that album (which from what I've heard so far, I like).
ROB ZOMBIE- Rob Zombie will headline the second stage this year, and if you have ever seen this guys stage show, you know how much ass he kicks. This dude is just pure energy as soon as he steps on stage and his show includes the works.
KILLSWITCH ENGAGE- Making their second appearance on the Ozzfest second stage, KSE will sure to bring the same type of energy and kick as much ass as they did the last time around.
AS I LAY DYING- Very popular metalcore band with tons of energy on stage, should not put on a dissapointing show.
MASTODON- I saw these guys at Jagermeister with Slayer and KSE, and they put on a very good show. Their music is heavy as hell and are considered one of the top metal acts in the country.
THE HAUNTED- Bad ass band. Just reunited with their lead singer and released a very good album (rEVOLVEr). This band should put on a very awesome show.
IN FLAMES- It's cool that this band is on, but unless they play a lot of their older stuff and keep the new shitty stuff to a minimum, they should put on a very good show.
ARCH ENEMY- I hate this band. They butchered "Symphony of Destruction".
SOILWORK- Haven't heard too much of this bands stuff, but what I have heard i've liked.
THE BLACK DAHLIA MURDER- Awesome, heavy ass band. Should put on a badass stage show and keep the crowd moving.
TRIVIUM- This band is on the fence for me. Every time they play them on Sirius, they always play that gay ass song Like Light To The Flies or whatever. If they dude stopped whining and singing like a woman on that song, it might be better. Would have to check out more of their stuff before making a jdugement on them.
IT DIES TODAY- I dunno, haven't heard them yet.
BURY YOUR DEAD- Heavy ass hardcore band. Good to see they made it on like it was rumored. Should kill on second stage like most hardcore bands do.
A DOZEN FURIES- Battle for Ozzfest winners, while not exactly the same kind of sound as the other bands, are still good and should put on a good show.

Texas tour dates:
August 25 - Dallas, TX @ Smirnoff Music Center
August 27 - Woodlands, TX @ Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion
August 28 - Selma, TX @ Verizon Wireless Amphitheater*
*- I'm there man!

All in all, this tour looks like it should kick some major ass again this year. I can't wait. The day of Ozzfest is like my Christmas day. The only downside is that the SA Ozzfest date is on a Sunday, but no worries. It shouldn't make it too much of a drag. FUCKING OZZFEST \m/!!!!
