Supernatural forces

Forces conspired against me to prevent me from having coffee this morning. I left the house at 6:30 for a 15 minute commute, thus allowing me to stop and grab some coffee before lecture. Wrong-o. The people in this town are too stupid to get out of their own way, in a vehicle or otherwise. Grr. I wanted nothing more than a nice cup of coffee after sleeping for 4 hours last night (my own stupidity - never went to bed until after 1 AM). Instead, I get behind the StupidPeople(tm) and arrive to school at 7. I live 10 minutes away. It should not take me 30 minutes to drive a distance of 11 miles. After two hours of lecture, I was finally able to get coffee (and a biscotti, just because).

I had plenty of free time today, as we only had one case in the morning and then had a consult to see. I had lunch and then went to the library for a while. After catching up on the day's events, I went outside to sit and read. The breeze was nice and warm and I spent more time daydreaming than reading. I got paged around 3 to go and see a four-day-old baby with what we were told was an infected circumcision. Turns out everything is fine but it's good to see that the primary care doc was so concerned about its appearance that he immediately sent them to see us.

I had lecture at 4 and it went long so I never made it to admissions committee, which was just as well because I didn't feel much for being around people today. I came home and promptly slept for 2 hours. There's that sleep I missed last night!

On a somber note, Grammy, Chris's grandmother, passed away this evening. Her health hadn't been terrific of late and took a quick turn for the worse today. She had 91 terrific, mostly healthy years. I'm glad I got to see her house at the Cape a couple of years ago and that I got to learn what a wonderful, spunky person she was. Not sure about arrangements just yet but I will definitely be making a trip to NH at some point within the next week.
