I think I'm finally in the state of mind where I can sit down and write about the week that was. I've been significantly tired (insomnia, hours upon hours of driving, and anxiety will do that, I s'pose) and in no mood to do anything but sit on my couch and stare at the TV with a review book open in my lap.

Too bad Baystate ended up sucking ass ... the Northampton area is really great.

Is Dartmouth's hospital so huge because it's the only one in the entire state or something?

Pretty much; they have the only Level III (highest) NICU in NH. I'm sure they're the 'only ones' in a bunch of other things outside of peds, too. They cover a ginormous referral area.

Okay finally I am back. I am trying to figure out how to tell you what I went through while living up in (as I like to call it) Hangover. This will not be a glowing report ( ... )

I ate dinner at Everything But Anchovies and it wasn't bad. But I see what you're saying about the "lack of activities" to do. I have a feeling it would be a nice place to raise a family - quiet, rural-ish area. But seeing as how my husband and I are kidless, I'd like to be within spitting distance of something to do. At least it was in Red Sox Nation, I s'pose.

Thanks for all your feedback on Hanover!

Baystate is in Springfield which is a good half hour and miles and miles further away from Northampton. (Family in western MA too!)

I go to Northampton all the time (at least once a month, if not more often). Springfield is only 20 miles away from Noho. I know lots of people who work in Springfield but live in Easthampton/Northampton. Granted I used to have a 100-mile (one way) daily commute so my impression of such things might be slightly skewed, but I don't think 20-25 minutes is too far to go for work if it means you can live in a cool town.

Ah - see my commute is 1.5 miles. And I've had family at Baystate it's a hard hospital to visit. And I lived in Chicopee and went to UMASS Amherst one summer that commute was 45 min each way and LONG.
