I think I'm finally in the state of mind where I can sit down and write about the week that was. I've been significantly tired (insomnia, hours upon hours of driving, and anxiety will do that, I s'pose) and in no mood to do anything but sit on my couch and stare at the TV with a review book open in my lap.

LJ drive by via friends of friends - if you want an opinion of the Hanover/Dartmouth area and living there, respond here. I went to Dartmouth for three years in a grad program.

(p.s. - I think I am here via hyounpark who I met via ursamajor)

Well, hello!

I'd like to know mostly for future reference (because it's highly likely I won't end up there for residency but might after a fellowship in 6-7 years or so). Where in the area did you live? Did you rent/own? What was your commute like? That's all my addled brain can think of right now. Thanks!

To answer your questions:

1. I lived in an apartment alone over in White river Junction, VT for 2 years, that was expensive. The moved into a house, in Hanover on 12 A (Lyme Road) with two guys and that was great! Less than $300 a month!

2. Commute was easy - except when there was snow. The snow removal is horrible, I have a little car and they would wait until about 6 inches were on the ground before they started clearing. So yeah for about half the year the commute was tough due to weather. Get a big truck or gas eating SUV and you're fine.

There's plently of places to rent and buy. Keeping in mind I moved from there to Boston so the rent there is WONDERFUL compared to here!

I went to the Beanpot as a college sophomore. I went to college in Rochester and a friend was from Worcester. We piled into his Subaru wagon (nicknamed the Jewbaru because, well, he was Jewish) and drove the 6.5 hours to Boston. I was there to see Chris Drury pass his brother Ted on the all-time scoring list, and watched BU beat Harvard. Best. Game. Ever.
