1. What did you learn in school about sex? i think i got my first sex ed class in 5th grade. it continued and got more in-depth every year until freshman year in health class. from what i remember, it covered a decent amount. it wasn't too biased- it showed the risks of sex a little too much but also talked about different forms of birth control, the morning after pill, etc.
2. Parents? my parents and i have never had 'the talk' but my mom constantly offers to put me on the pill. i was never really taught abstinence. i think they trusted that i would wait until i was in a serious relationship and was ready enough for it.
3. Religion (or non religion)? i never really had sexual discussions at my meeting (church for quakers). i liked it this way. nobody was jumping down my throat, trying to force abstinence. they respected my decisions and treated me like an adult.
4. Friends? my friends don't really talk about sex. it's a rare occurrence.
5. What kind of bad information did you get about sex? i don't think i was ever really misinformed about sex. i started listening to loveline when i was in fourth grade, before i knew anything about sex. dr. drew taught me everyyyyyything.
6. What do you wish you had known as a child that you know now? nothing really. sex was always left up to me during my upbringing and i'm glad that the adults in my life trusted me enough to make my own decisions. this method of being raised probably helped me make better decisions than any other method would have. i had nothing to rebel against.
