It's been going on 2 weeks since Wade has started Dialysis. Things have been going rather well. It's very frustrating for him at times, b/c he's on the cycler all night and wakes up in the morning goes to work, comes home, does a manual exchange, I make him something to eat, he eats during the exchange, then darts out the door for shcool. It's a hectic schedule. Atleast he doesn't have school everyday, only monday, tuesday and wednesday. The drain zero is hurting him almost everytime. We're not sure why yet. It doesn't make sense for only one of the drains to hurt (sometimes the CAPD drain hurts too though). His phosphorus was starting to level out last time that it was checked and his potassium is still great. So now I'm just trying to make sure that he gets the extra protein that he needs and make sure I give him his Epogen shot every week. Not that hard to remember since we were doing it every two weeks before dialysis anyway.
Next appt. is in a couple weeks. We have to do a full 24 hour fluid output for his first adequacy test. We are anxious about it, b/c the dr. said that he maybe able to rid the manual exchange during the day based on this test. That's def. what we are hoping for. His BP has been going up. We're trying to use a misture of yellow and green bags to bring it down. It's been leveling out and coming down some. We hope it continues to work. Otherwise, medication it will be.
Hope everyone is doing well.
