i guess i made it a few days over a month of no shopping before i cracked. i was waiting, but not in an "oh, awesome i cannot wait for november" way; instead, "please let time pass quicker so it will be november." that wasn't really the purpose of the exercise (obviously). i certainly didn't want to be wishing my life away. so i took a couple of days to decide how to amend my shopping, keep to my budget, and enjoy more. i decided to take out the cash i had to use for starters. that was especially helpful. then i had my list of things i was looking for. since loosing weight i'm having turnover in all of my pants and the large majority of my button down shirts. i thought about altering them, but upon further investigation that didn't seem easily doable. so i sorted through and took a bunch to sell at plato's closet (again, their fair assessment of my clothes is mind boggling!) and kept the ones i really like for reconstruction projects in the future. it's surreal to be selling clothes too small last year that are now too big to wear. it really makes my weight loss seem real!
i was pining for new button down shirts and patterned pants (the best ones come out in the fall) so i purchased some of those. i am already fearing i didn't order the right size in the pants from ae, as today i am wearing the size i ordered in some i haven't been able to
wear since 2007 and they are too large. i might need to exchange them when they come. that would mean i went down two sizes at ae! nice. i also got a pull-over navy sweater at zara to replace my navy pull-over sweater that is now too large and a new pair of trouser jeans to serve the same purpose. i picked up the striped shirt and a polka-dot sweater (not yet on the madewell website) for fun.
here's what i got for my september budget plus sales at plato's closet:

burntphotograph it's often hard to wrap my head around my weight loss. i gained weight from summer 2007-fall 2009. i had tried and failed several times in the last four years to stop gaining and start loosing so i honestly didn't expect it to work this time either. now that it has i don't always relate to my body... i often wonder who's it is. i look like i used to (i am about the size i was spring 2007, i was smallest in 2006 which is where my goal is) but not like i remember. today i am wearing my new gingham shirt (size 12!) and zara sweater. there is no way i could have worn either one a year ago. no. possible. way. so that's when it hits home and becomes "real."
ironically, i started this after visiting my
doctor. it was a reality check: "oh, maybe i am always the first to point out my weight so that no one else does." maybe i need to get off the bench and join the game. so i did and here i am, more than halfway toward my goal slimming back into my old clothes. i called my doctor to make an appointment to discuss my psoriasis, which has been inflamed for several months and is driving me crazy. i read that though it is hereditary it's also a cause from gluten (wheat) intolerance when it starts in adults. great (only upside is losing the last pounds will be easy if i cannot eat any wheat based foods, as those are my favorite). i figured it might be worthwhile to take the test. anway, the point of all this is to say that the recording message that picked up when i called said his office had closed. seriously. so he'll never see my results. some other doctor will be able to just take for granted how much i lost in a year. plus i have to find another doctor. gross. i don't even want to think about that.
