I'll let Matt's description explain this one:

A series of shots from a Halloween Flash Mob with members of the Bristol Strobist Flickr Group.

This costume is that of an Imperial Guard Infantryman from the Games Workshop Warhammer 40K universe. I had a major reminiscant moment when I saw Jon aka burntkona in this as when I was younger I worked in a gaming shop and played Warhammer 40K.

The pro-cathedral made an excellent backdrop for a 40K themed shoot. One of the key character groups within the universe are the Chaos Gods and their cultist worshippers. Chaos is the enemy of the Empire and the Imperial Guard is the primary offensive and defensive force of the Empire (cannon fodder). So this costume forced me to think back to those early days and after a quick discussion with James and Jon we came up with an idea.

This was the last set-up we did and was a bit rushed. I would love to have another crack at this one with a bit more time to test different things.

Story:

The final member of the Imperial Guard Infantry Squad sent to capture a temple dedicated to the Chaos God of lust, excess, decadence, pleasure and hedonism, Slaanesh. Trapped and alone after his fellow squad members were massacred by Cultists. The Infantryman slumps barricaded inside the temple and bathed in the unholy pink light of Chaos' taint. The walls covered are with Slaaneshi symbols and chants which tear at the fabric of reality. He reads his Imperial Guardsman's Primer in an effort to hold onto his sanity and keep his rising apprehension in check while the scratching at the door gets louder...
