Dear Candy,
How do I even start this? Well... I don’t know. I need to do something anyway. I’m going out of my mind spending every night here and not being able to see your face or hear your voice. Or... anything really.
God, you’ve turned me into a right sap, you know that, Candy Girl? Heh... well, perhaps that’s a sign that I really love you. See? I can admit it openly. I know you think I need a break, and perhaps you’re right, but I still think I already know what the outcome will be. Katniss will move on with Peeta and I’ll move on with you. Perfect.

I wish it was that easy... that perfect. You can’t really blame me for having some feelings for Katniss though, right? We’ve been through a lot together and she’s still my best friend. My hunting partner. We relied on each other for so long. Maybe now’s the time to accept she has plenty of other support. Time for me to take a step back a little.
Sometimes I still get the urge to just go to Chickentown and just wait at your window, like that will help. But I’ll behave. I’m still working hard down the mines, catching food in the forest, trading for the supplies we need and trying not to get caught. It’s working so far, but then again things have started changing around here lately. I’ll have to be extra alert that’s all.
...you’ll worry now, won’t you? Well don’t! I promise everything’s just fine. I’ll come back with a clear head and a heart full of love that’s for you and only you. And when you let me, I’ll give it all back, all the love I’ve been keeping.
