Today, me, Cathy, Jane, and Jane's hubby Patrick met for picnic in Regents park while we eyed the sky a bit, then went into the open air theatre for Into the Woods. Jenna Russell as the Baker's Wife, Hannah Waddingham as the Witch, Helen Dallimore as Cinderella (rather a good Cinderella, less nasal than her Glinda but a bit weak vocally in places ( Read more... )

sooo glad it didn't do that when I went. It spitted a couple of times for a few minutes, but nothing more. Still, if you will do outdoor theatre in England...

Prince Charming was absolutely a dead ringer for Rupert Everett! (Speaking of which, did you see his episode of 'Who Do You Think You Are?' - absolutely hysterical).

I think I will try and get tickets to go again through the weather exchange. It was such a shame after a gloriously sunny evening that the rain very surprisingly came down so heavily I think it would have been dangerous to carry on after that, on all those slipperly ladders and walkways.

Wolf was one of the Princes, but that was the only double-up in the programme.

I haven't seen how the second act played out, but I was a little bit disappointed by Hannah's Witch. I thought she sang the 'greens' song incredibly slowly (esp after Julia McKenzie on the London cast recording). But I loved her green outfit after she was glammed up!
