ode to injuries

I hope no one ever calls me to take them to the ER. Because I will not take you. If you are conscious enough to make a phone call, you don't belong in the ER. I'm positive it's nothing a bottle of 151 and a warm bed won't numb until morning when we can go to a real doctor and not wait 12 hours just to get the thumbs up and narcotics scrip. I promise that you don't have a concussion. I know I'm not a doctor but the signs of a concussion are pretty freaking obvious. I'm sure you're not bleeding inside your brain because if you did your ICP would cause scary symptoms making the triage nurse to put you ahead of that lady who just got in ahead of you with flu-like symptoms. If you're in the ER and it takes you 2 hours just to be seen by the triage nurse, then you're fine, go freaking home. I know you have a black eye worthy of a t-bone and a 3 inch laceration that makes John Locke look tame as hell but won't need stitches, you mark my words.
