Mardi Gras is coming up and here's the deal on the Cross Campus Student Float
This year's theme is NOT OBJECTS, NOT LABELS because we believe we will not stand and certainly not march for our objectification. We are not objects of love, we are not easily classifiable, labellable, boxable, sellable. To celebrate this fact, this year we will be flaunting our defiance of the increasing commercialisation of our culture by dressing in barcode colours, wearing barcode patches and otherwise indicating the necessity of shades of grey.
We'll be meeting at the USYD SRC on saturday at 9am for a working bee to get all crafty on the props and the such and too finetune eveything we need.
If that's not your thing, then just come along in your best thematic dress to Hyde Park Anzac memorial between the hours of 5pm and 5:30pm to grab your wrist band and join the float. Make up, patches, stickers and enthusiam will all be provided. Spread the word, all students are welcome. The more the better.
