I was in Bagdad today.

So my mom and I decided to try and get to Pensacola today and see if my apartment survived. Although they had I-10 traffic re-routed to 90 it still didn't take TOO long to get there. Maybe about 2 hours?

I was really scared when I pulled into the parking lot because almost every tree that used to inhabit that place(and trust me when I say there were a lot) had fallen over. There were trees on the roofs and one apartment looked like it's roof had been taken off.

Somehow my apartment was completely undamaged. No broken windows or torn down patio fence and everything inside appeared to be safe from water damage. Of course there is no power and no electricity and whatnot, so I'm staying at home probably until I have to go back to school because the other people said the power company is saying 3 weeks or more for most people. Ugh.

I had to throw out a lot of the food in my fridge, which fucking sucked because I'm such an obsessive money person that I could just count the money I spent that was being thrown away. I'm still not sure how I got this strict about money.

The west florida hospital right by my apartment was really badly wrecked. A lot of the windows were blown out and it looks like the roof was severly damaged. The signs were all knocked down. Barely any traffic lights were working. It really was a mess. I wanted to go on campus and see if my pscyh building was ok(AND MY PRETTY BALL!), but they weren't letting any "unauthorized personal" on campus. Grrr.

We drove around and realized that just about everywhere was closed. So we headed back home. We tried to get around the mess of traffic by looking at the map and getting to I-10 through Milton and whatnot, but that proved to be a REALLY bad idea. Traffic was so bad in the small towns because people were everywhere trying to get gas and water and generators and such. It took us over 3 hours to get home. AHH!

Anyways, my apartment is ok. I hear roof on the field house got torn off. I have classes in there, so I guess they will probably be somewhere else? I also heard that everyone had to leave campus, which means it must be really bad.

I don't know how they plan on fixing this semster. Whatever. I'm going to run now because I've done nothing but eat for that past 4 days. haha.

Edit: Also, somehow my phone no longer gets service from T-mobile and now it says it's getting service from AT&T wireless. Well it doesn't let me send text messeges and I can't seem to get to my messages, so you might have to just call back because I don't know what the hell is going on with it. :-/
