If you were to ask any musician what their favorite part of touring was, their answer would probably surprise you. You would expect them to say that they love playing sold out concerts. You would expect them to say they love getting the chance to travel the world. You would expect them to say they love the rush they get when they enter the stage and the fans go crazy. Now while all of these things are partially true, any musician would tell you that their favorite part of touring was getting the chance to interact with their fans. Their fans are the real reason they are so successful in their career. It isn’t their manager who makes them really good deals. It is not the venues who promote their concerts to the fullest. It’s the fans. Without the fans a musician would be nothing. Yet at the same time musicians get lonely too. They spend so much of their time trying to make their fans happy that they sometimes forget about themselves. They forget that when they’re out on the road they have loved ones back at home waiting. They forget that sometimes they should take better care of themselves. They forget that even though they are surrounded by countless people, that they are truly alone. So when the opportunity to go home arises, every musician will jump at it.
And Taylor Swift was jumping at that exact opportunity. However, since she was headed towards Los Angeles it was more of a symbolic home that she was headed towards. Her house may have been back in Tennessee, but everyone knew that their home was where their heart was. And her heart was hundreds of miles away in Los Angeles, California with the person who had stolen it away. And she was finally going home for a visit.
Taylor glanced around the first class part of the plane. Most of the people she had come to the airport were in various stages of sleep. Something that Taylor should have been doing as well. But she her excitement was overwhelming and overriding her need for sleep. A small sigh escaped her lips as she picked up the next magazine that was in the stack in front of her. She had already gone through the New York Times, The New York Post, and TIME magazine. Now that she had gotten through the news, even if some of it wasn’t the best, she moved onto the gossip rags. It was a secret addiction that Taylor had. She was always seeing what gossip was supposedly going through the celebrity world.
However, she had not expected for STAR magazine to write an article about not only her, but her newest album Speak Now. She was slightly amused at the radical theories that they shared within the piece of writing. From claiming that Taylor was a man eater to being out to capture and break as many Hollywood studs’ hearts as she could, she could not help but be amused at what they were trying to insinuate. It was comical really. Taylor hoped that her fans would have the same reaction that she was having. She hoped they would just laugh it off as another baseless rumor. The hilarity of it was that if she had been a guy, like any of the number of rappers who talk about going through women like bottles of cristal, she would not have been experiencing this kind of publicity. It was a double standard really. Now, whenever Taylor associated with a famous guy they were going to automatically assume she was starting a relationship with them. Nonetheless, Taylor found the entire thing amusing. The only relationships that were mentioned in the magazines were when she had been with Joe Jonas and Taylor Lautner. Her brief fling with John Mayor hadn’t been anything but a crush and she had quickly learned why that was a bad thing. John Mayor was definitely a player and he had music on his side. He could get with any girl he wanted and all he had to do was serenade them with his musical talent. But besides that they did have one thing right. Taylor did have many secrets in the bedroom that no one was aware of. She knew that the secret she held would have been spilled out all over the magazine if it had come to light. She was absolutely positively sure she would have made the front cover of every gossip magazine and newspaper if this secret had ever escaped. But because none of this had happened yet she knew she was safe.
“Taylor.”
Taylor snapped out of her thoughts and found her manager staring down at her. She had been so wrapped up in her thoughts of the article that she hadn’t even realized they had reached LAX, and not only had they landed, but they had taxied to where they could exit. Taylor and the others were going to be the first to exit, so that it was easier for the other passengers to avoid the full paparazzi attack.
“Actually can I slip out with the rest of the people?” Taylor asked, “I want to go somewhere and it’ll be easier getting out of the airport if I can blend in with the rest of the passengers.”
Her manager only nodded. He waved over her body guard to accompany her. Taylor had hoped she’d be able to make the trip on her own, but she had figured her manager would insist on Joey going out with her. Taylor pulled a hoodie over her head, making sure the hood stayed up, and slipped her sunglasses over her eyes. It was the best disguise she could come up with at such short notice. She made sure her golden locks were out of site so that it would be harder to recognize her.
“Your rental is already in the parking lot,” her manager further explained, “Joey will take you to it. And as long as if everything is clear you can take off without him. But if anything looks out of place then he’s going with you.”
Taylor nodded. She patted her manager on the arm before she followed Joey into another section of the plane. They quickly found seats among the passengers. Taylor was glad that none of the people around them had recognized her. She could hear some people complain about how first class was getting released first. They obviously had no idea that Taylor Swift had even been on the plane. They may not have realized it, but she knew for a fact that the paparazzi always knew things like that.
Taylor’s plan had worked. She had been able to slip through the airport without anyone spotting her. After Joey had escorted her to the rental truck she had been able to take off into LA without problem. Even at night Taylor knew her away around the city like the back her hand. She knew exactly where she was going and she had done it millions of times. She probably could have done it blind folded and sleeping if she had ever needed to. Taylor arrived at the darkened house almost an hour after escaping the airport. The traffic had been worse then she had expected; though she should have known it would even if it was after midnight. She quietly unlocked the door with her own key and slipped into the house quietly. Her visit was a surprise. She wasn’t supposed to fly out till the next day, but Taylor hadn’t been able to wait anymore. Instead of site seeing in New York on her day off she had chosen to take the red eye almost right after her concert.
Taylor silently headed up the stairs and slipped into the darkened room without making a sound. It was a talent she had perfected from the countless other nights she had done the exact same thing as she was doing now. She easily spotted the silhouette of a figure lying in the bed. Taylor slid out of her shoes, not bothering to change since she was already wearing sweat pants and a t-shirt. Not wanting to disturb the other occupant of the bed, she slid under the covers as carefully as she possibly could. She couldn’t keep the grin off her face as her lover unconsciously rolled over so that Taylor could slip behind and wrap her arms around them.
A sigh escaped her lovers lips that sounded like her name as Taylor finally got comfortable.
“I’m glad your home Tay,” a voice whispered.
“I’m happy to be home Lena.”
As Taylor drifted off to sleep she couldn’t help but think of the article again. They didn’t know anything about her. They wish they knew half the things that Taylor still kept hidden. Taylor drifted off into a peaceful sleep. The first good sleep she had had since before she had begun her tour. She was finally home.
