The scratching sound of a pen meeting paper filled the small hotel room as Selena Gomez scribbled lyric after lyric and note after note across the pages as if her life had depended on it. And in some ways it did depend on it. She wasn’t about to let this rare moment pass her by; it was not every day that Selena was able to catch her best friend turned girlfriend in such a peaceful state. She was currently sprawled across the bed, her hair spread across the pillow, the blankets tangled in her body and a childlike innocent expression graced her face. Selena was almost tempted to take a picture, but she was almost scared that it would wake her up before she had been able to finish her song.
Selena tried to keep the rhythm of the song in mind so that the lyrics would go with the music that was playing in her head. She was completely unaware that the reason the music was so clear to her was because she was humming it softly under her breath. And then the lyrics began to slip out from between her lips.
“If there never was a night or day and memories could fade away.
Then there’d be nothing left but the dreams we made.
Take a leap of faith and hope you fly, feel what it’s like to be alive.
Give it all, what we’ve got and lay it all on the line and we can find a way to do anything if we try to.”
Selena was surprised that her pen was able to keep up with the speed of her mind. Her mind was on over drive. Selena had never felt so inspired before in her entire life. If this inspiration had been present back when she was working on her debuting album then maybe Selena would have actually written more of the songs herself.
“Live like there’s no tomorrow, cause all we have is here right now.
Love like it’s all that we know, the only chance that we ever found.
Believe in what we feel inside.
Believe in it and it’ll never die…”
Selena could not help but grin with excitement as she hummed out the last few bars and finished the last couple of lyrics that would finish the song. She was so engulfed in her writing that she failed to notice the brown orbs that were staring up at her. She hadn’t realized that her quiet singing had gotten louder and louder with each line. It wasn’t until clapping filled her ears did she realize that Demi was awake. Selena looked up in surprise, looking like a deer caught in head lights.
“That was beautiful,” Demi said pulling the still shocked girl closer.
Selena quickly shook the shock from her system as she cuddled into Demi’s side. She always felt safer with Demi’s arms wrapped around her.
“I want to come out with you.”
Selena pulled back a little in surprise. She had brought up the topic only once since they had gotten back together, but Demi had found a way around talking about it.
“Are you sure?”
Demi nodded. Selena could see the determination in the other girls eyes.
“You were right. We need to believe in what we have,” Demi told her, “And I believe in what we have. I’m not letting you go again.”
Selena could only grin as she leaned forward to capture Demi’s lips with her own. If ever there was a moment she’d remember forever, this was that moment. Her life was about change forever, but Selena knew she didn’t have to be afraid. Demi was going to be right next to her and that was all that mattered.
