Reason: Because even mutants are nerds
Even though Jacob himself was in the Physics and not Chemistry class, that did not stop him from playing around with the glass beakers and Bunsen burner when he dropped his things on the workbench in front of him. He liked all sorts of science, partially because it made sense to him and helped him understand his own powers and why mutants were mutants, but also because he was in fact a nerd. It fit to an extent; after all, his slight clumsiness and lack of coordination did not help in any sports field and the mental ward he had been in was never known for its athletic program.
Today's assignment? To graph linear mass density against tension. Basically, he was going to play with different weights and string, and calculate the speed of a wave pulse traveling along the string. Call him a dork, but he thought it was fun, as as the lab was empty save for himself, he could enjoy science to his heart's content. That is, until someone else decided to enter...
