I'm pleased, no wait, scratch that... I'm beyond pleased to announce that Nicholas Kaufmann's General Slocum's Gold, which was the very first horror title ever published by
Burning Effigy Press, has made it onto the preliminary ballot of this year's Bram Stoker Awards. I would like to extend my congratulations to both Nick (
nick_kaufmann), for penning this tremendous tale, and to my cohorts at Burning Effigy, Jeff Cottrill (
duhbigman) and Queenie Tirone (
queenie-writes), without whose help none of this would have been possible.
General Slocum's Gold has really proven itself to be the little horror chapbook that could. It also was named Best Short Story of 2007 by the fine folks at
Fearzone.com, and appeared on the "year's best" lists of celebrated horror scribes Brian Keene and Gary A. Braunbeck.
If you have yet to get your hands on a copy, you can order one (autographed even!) directly from Burning Effigy Press in our
online store.
