"The concluding words of the Tanak [in the Hebrew order], "Let him go up" (2 Chr 36:23), express the hope that God's people will return and rebuilt[sic] the temple at a future time. The purposes of God avowedly await completion. A more iltimate return of the people of God is anticipated, for Chronicles was written long after a physical return had taken place (as plotted in the book of Ezra-Nehemiah). [....] Such an ending could be viewed as requiring a sequel such as the one provided by the comping of Jesus Christ who viewed his death as the means of gathering God's people (John 10:16) and his resurrection as the raising up of the new temple (John 3:18-22)."
