Bottom line:
Women's Chorale - pretty good
Solo in "Song for the Mira" - did not suck
Other groups that I wasn't in - great
B3 Heritage Singers - ...glorious. Positively glorious.
Details:
Women's Chorale
Issay, Issay! - perfect
Song for the Mira - we don't know the "oo" part, never have, never will. Other than that, everything went well. My solo was not amazing, I was a little shaky, but I had no intonation problems, only one rough transition between registers, all in all, not bad at all. My mom cried during it, because she's my mom.
Masters in This Hall - HA, that was funny. Sopranos fucked up the "la la" section, and we all missed the entrance into "nowell nowell nowell" after the la-la's. Good times. It was fun though.
Carol for the Russian Children - ...Let me put it this way...it didn't NOT suck.
Angels We Have Heard On High - Seconds did NOT screw up the Glorias for once! Yeehaw!
Santa Baby - Adorable. Fro was BORN to be our Santa Claus, I swear.
Other groups
Unselect mixed choir - surprisingly good. They did "You're A Mean One, Mr. Grinch", and Gus had a hilarious solo. Good times.
Dan's solo - "Confrontation" from Jekyll and Hyde. Awesome as usual. I swear, that song might as well have been WRITTEN for him. That Hyde voice is PURE Dan.
Katie's solo - very sweet, she sang "My Grown-Up Christmas List", it was great.
TWELVE (or as Joel might say, TWEVLE) - great as usual. They're TWELVE, when are they NOT great?
Alaina's solo - didn't hear much of it, we were busy lining up, but what I heard was lovely.
Men - THEY HIT EVERY NOTE IN "WHISPER WHISPER" RIGHT! HOLY CRAP!
B3
Break Forth, O Beauteous Heavenly Light - glorious. Such a beautiful song.
For the Beauty of the Earth - some parts weren't quite as good as others, but our "LORD of ALLLLLLLLLLL, to THEEEE WEEEEEEEEE RAAAAAA-AAA-AAAA-AAAAIIIIIIIISE" completely made up for that.
Jabula Jesu - a.k.a. "Dance of the Honkies". We had these dumb little Zulu dance moves, and I sucked at them, and I also screwed up the second soprano part, but that's okay. Katie was right in front of me, and her ass kept bumping into my leg, so I was trying to shuffle to the side, but I think she was doing the same thing, because by the end of the song, I had moved about a foot away from her and her ass was still bumping into me. Oh well.
Do You Hear What I Hear? - This one also made my mom cry, because (unbeknownst to me) it's her favorite Christmas carol. She said that she tells me that every year, but the only Christmas carol she mentions every year is Little Drummer Boy, which is her other favorite. Either way, it went pretty well, and none of the women (that I could hear) sang the "do you hear what I hear?" part with the men. Go us!
Winter Queen - pretty good. Is it just me, or do the altos ALWAYS go sharp on the "ing" of "a dancing figure"?
Carol of the Bells - the best part of this song was the expression on Mrs. Riley's face. She was in heaven. I mean, I might have thought that she was exaggerating about this being the best-sounding high school choir she's ever had until I saw the look on her face while we sang it.
Hallelujah Chorus - even with Mrs. Manion AND Mrs. Prato there, we still screwed up the alto part. Haha, oh well, it was still glorious. Unfortunately, Mr. Palm couldn't sing with us, but we had Herr Bolan (sp?) and Mr. Riley there in the bass section, we wouldn't need another. Assuming that Mr. Palm is a bass, which is pretty apparent because of his speaking voice.
Overall, just absolutely exhilarating and beautiful and glorious.
EDIT: After reviewing the tape that my dad made, not only did the sopranos fuck up the la-la's in Masters, the seconds did, too. But not me. I owned the la-la's. Also, I was flat for half a second in my solo, but then I tuned it up. Also, has anyone ever noticed that when I sing in choir, my face is always pointed upwards, so I'm just looking down at Mrs. Riley with only my eyes? I'm like the only person in the choir who does that, I don't know why.
