Lithuania had just woken up (or rather, rolled out of bed) and pulled on his clothes -- an outfit that mirrored a military uniform, and far different from the clothes he'd been allowed to wear when he'd been staying with America. He descended down the staircase of the old Russian palace, already dreading the day of work ahead of him.
Uhg, he thought. Ever since returning I've been worked to the point of no sleep... it must be because Russia is pissed off... I've heard that he's on bad terms with America, but this is just ridiculous! I didn't sleep at all yesterday, either...
He reached the sitting room, looking at the work before him. It looked very nice, but nothing was really good enough for Russia. He should sweep and dust again...
Settling for just a moment in the oversized loveseat, Lithuania relaxed into it, closing his eyes. He just needed a quick second's rest before working...
But when he closed his eyes, he fell fast asleep. The next thing he saw were the familiar fields of rye -- the smell wafted in the air, and Lithuania felt at peace. Estonia and Latvia and Poland were there, too, and they were younger, much younger, before they'd known Russia, before all the bad things happened -- they were laughing and playing and Poland jumped on Lithuania's back and--
"N... stop it, already, Pol... huh?" Lithuania opened his eyes, slowly, realizing where he was. He'd fallen asleep on the couch, and now... now Russia was there, sitting beside him. Lithuania jolted awake -- Russia was going to be so angry with him for falling asleep instead of working! Not to mention waking up next to Russia was not pleasant at all!
"Um, I, uh! I'm sorry!" he cried.
But Russia didn't seem angry. Instead, he looked... thoughtful.
"What kind of dream did you have?" he asked, quietly. He almost looked sad.
"Eh?" Lithuania blinked, then realized suddenly that he had nearly said Poland's name in his sleep. No way was he going to tell Russia what he'd been dreaming about... "Um, no, that was just mumbling!" He laughed a little, nervously. "Sometimes," he said, slowly, knowing he had to say something to appease Russia, "I dream about what I was little. Dreams of when I was happiest..."
Russia was quiet for a moment. "Do you ever want it to be like the dreams?"
"Well... yeah... it would be a dream come true..." He suddenly looked up, panic on his face. I can't say that to Russia! he thought. Oh no, change the subject, change the subject! "Um!" he said, trying desperately to think of something. "Oh yeah! Russia, do you have any dreams?"
"Hm... well..." Russia trailed off, thinking to himself.
"Pl-please tell me," Lithuania whispered. I probably chose the wrong subject... it's bound to be something creepy...
"L-living in a warm place..." Russia began. "Surrounded by sunflowers..."
Lithuania looked surprised. Russia seemed so quiet, so peaceful, so relaxing. And his dream was... surprisingly... cute...
Relaxing, Lithuania fell asleep against Russia's shoulder, who looked down at the boy, surprised.
Hours passed. Lithuania didn't dream. When he awoke this time, he jolted awake, only with the vague memory that he'd fallen asleep on Russia.
"Oh, crap!" he cried. "Russia, I'm sorr--"
But when he sat up, Russia wasn't there. Lithuania stared out into the empty sitting room.
...Had he... dreamed that whole thing?
