At least it works...

Roy lounges casually against the outside wall of the shooting range, just beside the exit, waiting for Jean to finish up. He'd tried to see him at the apartment a couple weeks back, but Jean was gone with no note posted and very little explination left with the tenants. Seems he'd gone in a bit of a hurry, which can't help but ignite some ( Read more... )

Riza wasn't expecting Roy to be there either as she packed up the guns after the weekly shooting get-together with Jean. "I should put in more time at the range for practice," she said to him as she stood, picking up the bag. "If I'm not careful, you might end up better than me."

She gave him a casual grin and left the enclosed range area into the small room between the range and the rest of the building, taking off her earmuffs before opening the door for Jean and herself.

Jean knows its only a matter of time before Roy finds him, though he's hoping to put it off a little longer. This is the only part of his old routine that he's kept up, since Lust had... No, not thinking about that

"I somehow doubt that I'll ever be better than you" Jean says with a slight smile, shaking his head as he follows her out. "You were better than me, before I took a couple months off from practicing."

He doesn't notice Mustang, his attention is on Hawkeye waiting for her response.

Ah. There they are. Roy pushes off the wall and comes up beside Jean. He gives a small cough to announce himself, figuring that even his presence will be startling enough. "If you want my opinion, you're still quite a challenge to keep up with, Jean." Oh, the ambiguity.

Oh Shit Jean thinks as soon as he sees Mustang, because he has to verify what he thought he heard by turning to look at Mustang, which allows Mustang to see that a quick unguarded expression before Jean gets himself undercontrol.

Keep up with That could be relating back to what Jean and Hawkeye were talking about or it could mean that Roy's been trying to find him, which is more likely the case. Jean decides to stay on the topic he and Hawkeye were discussing.

"Yeah, well, a gun isn't your primary weapon, so its more of a challenge and an accomplishment to outshoot Hawkeye" Jean knows Mustang isn't a bad shot with a gun, its just that Jean thinks he's better at it than Mustang.

And to the car they go. It's a short and uneventful trip, besides small hassles with the wheelchair. Roy decides to hold off on more questions until they're comfortably inside with fewer distractions and escapes.

He gets out his keys to open up and steps back to let the others by. "Come in a settle down. My kitchen's free to you both," he says with a small welcoming grin. He'll move from the doorway once Jean's inside.

There's no smiles from Jean, he doesn't want to talk about this. In Jean's mind nothing good can come from this, he messed up big time and he's only made matters worse by hiding from Mustang. So, his only option is to delay the inevitable outcome.

After taking a quick glance around Mustang's apartment upon entering, he starts heading toward the kitchen. "What do you have to eat?"

Riza looked at Roy - something must have gone seriously wrong. She followed Havoc, inwardly berating herself for not seeing how much he'd been hiding during their meeting times. Not exactly the most observant or attentive of friends, was she?

"I could probably put together something, maybe some grilled cheese sandwiches?" Riza suggested, comfortable enough in the privacy of their secret to move without hesitation to the cupboard where the skillets were kept, revealing a familiarity with the layout.

Roy shuts and locks the door behind them out of habit if not precaution. He follows the pair into the kitchen and leans back against the wall beside the table, allowing Riza room to serve him. "I don't have much apart from that, to be truthful." He pauses and his gaze shifts to Jean. "There's a mostly full bottle of whiskey in the cupboard." And he is welcome to it. This isn't going to be pretty.

Now is not the time to sound angry or frustrated. Take a moment to gulp a bit of alcohol then speak with a steady tone. "Yes, she was crated with a certain...appeal, but I assume that beast of yours was not handing out your address to every big breasted bitch it could stumble upon. I know that she lives with by twisted view of equivalent exchange, so did she act out in any way to gain it's favor?"

"She said she'd be grateful and the damned thing was putty in her hands" Jean says not wanting to get into anymore detail. He needs to get off this topic, so he twists to look over his shoulder at Hawkeye.

"How's the food coming Hawkeye? I'm starving"

She checked the cheese and the color of the bread before replying. "If I try to melt the cheese any faster, you'll be eating Grilled Cheese a la Flame Alchemist style," Riza pointed out.

"To pass the time, why don't you tell us what that twisted bitch has been up to now?"

Thanks for nothing Hawkeye, now he can't use food to delay the inevitable.

"I wouldn't know what's up to now, I've actually managed to avoid her ever since that night" Jean says, choosing to take the question as meaning now now, instead of what has Lust done to Jean now. As he speaks, he's busy patting his pockets, trying to remember which pocket he'd shoved them in.
