I love satsuma manadarins*. They are similar to clementines, but better. Sweeter. Easier to peel.
Mike and I bought two boxes of them (they were buy one get one free!) so we have been eating 3-5 per day, each. Can't say I'm sick of them though. I love that they are one of the few items of produce that still seems to obey seasonality around here. With lots of things, if you want to eat a fruit or a vegetable out of season you can just buy it from your supermarket without even necessarily realizing that it may have traveled from Brazil or Argentina to get to you. But satsuma's only show up in the winter for a few weeks/months**. I like looking forward to an item coming into season. The anticipation, the excitment, the produce binges.
*A seedless and easy-peeling citrus mutant of Japanese origin (according to wikipedia)
**Although, apparently in Canada they are a popular snack all year long (also according to wikipedia)
Okay, okay - back to my paper.
