So I just finished watching Wild Zero. It is, no lie, quite possibly one of the greatest films I have ever seen. I am also not under-estimating in the slightest when I say that it featured no less than a hundred head explosions. It was an experience. I can't properly sum up how amazing this film is, but let me give a brief rundown of some of the best moments of the film -
- As the band Guitar Wolf are arguing with the manager (the Captain, who wears a set of progressively shorter and scarier shorts as the film goes on), when the Captain screams "Rock and roll is dead! This is business!" In response Ace, Guitar Wolf's number one fan, bursts through a door, and yells "ROCK AND ROLL NEVER DIES!" before getting punched in the face. Cue gunfight and head explosions.
- Ace slams a door into a would-be robber's face (sadly causing no head explosion).
- Yakuza versus zombies
- Ace and female protagonist are about to get it on when a subtle usage of subliminal messaging tells us that she isn't quite what she says she is
- The vision of Guitar Wolf screaming at Ace "LOVE HAS NO BOUNDARIES, NATIONALITIES OR GENDER!"
- Ace summoning the band Guitar Wolf by blowing on a special whistle
- Guitar Wolf killing a horde of zombies with plectrums
- Ace going crazy with a crowbar
- Guitar Wolf having his showdown with the Captain, involving the usage of bazookas, electrocution, crazy eye beams, and the destruction of several UFOs
- Guitar Wolf screaming "ROCK AND ROLLLLLLLLLL!" before destroying a fleet of UFOs in the most bad ass way imaginable, that I can't even put into words. Best... weapon... ever. That is all.
So yeah, I had a huge smile on my face after seeing that film. Excellent! Made up for a rather rubbishy wednesday, at least.
I'm gone all weekend, so don't expect to see me. Heading over to Stoke for a barbeque and to sort my house out. I'll be back soon, though!
