Chapter Eighty Three

I, Calliope Iphigenia Robbins-Torres, am holding our seventh grandchild as I am singing softly in her ear the Spanish lullaby that my father sang to me when I was a child. I look around the birthing suite at St. Mary’s Hospital in Miami as I see my wife, our daughter and son-in-law all sleeping in different areas of the suite. My wife is sleeping on the fold out sofa bed that we both shared last night while Samuel is curled up in the hospital bed with his wife. In the same hospital bed that his wife just gave birth to our granddaughter Isabella Louise Ruiz. Timothy, Elisabeth and Theodore have taken our other grandchildren Stephanie, Gabriela, Timmy Jr., Samuel Jr., Michelle and Matthew all back to the Torres mansion after Isabella was born. Samuel and Elisabeth’s parent are going to watch all the grandchildren today so our children and their spouses can come back for a visit later in the day. Then Samuel’s parents will come by later this evening. Theodore has to work tonight at the hospital so he will be able to check on his sister and his new niece throughout the night. As I finish the Spanish lullaby for probably about the tenth time now as my wife comes up behind me as she wraps both Isabella and me up in her arms and greets us both with a good morning kiss.

Arizona and I stay a week in Miami helping Bailey get settled in with Isabella. Bailey has taken a three month maternity leave to be with her family and since she owns The Lucia Torres Law Firm she is entitled to all the time off she needs. It has been so much fun spending a relaxing week with our family but having seven grandchildren all under the age of five has been an experience, a wonderful experience. Just as my wife and I are getting packed to fly back to Seattle, Tim and Bailey asks us to come outside because they want to show us something. Once outside Arizona and I see this large monstrosity vehicle in the driveway as Samuel comes out from behind the wheel of this recreational vehicle and says “Well, what do you both think”? I begin to walk around this beautiful and titanic motor coach as I say “Well I guess that one way to get around town with all the children” as my wife chuckles and then asks “Where do you all plan on driving this vehicle”? Timothy and Theodore help my wife and me up the steps to the inside of their new RV. Timothy begins to explain “Sam and I had this idea and when we discussed it with Bailey, Elisabeth and Ted we all pitch our ideas to the RV salesman and he made it happen. So since Matthew and Isabella are too young to fly to Boston next month for Grandma Barbara’s birthday bash, we thought we would take a family vacation together and drive to Boston in this RV”. Then Ted says as he sits us down on the sectional sofa inside the RV “Momma, all of our lives you have told all of us about you and Uncle Tim’s crazy adventures traveling around this great country of ours. I know that being a part of a military family and having Grandpa Daniel being assigned to different military bases is quite different than our idea of traveling around the country, but we want to do this as a family. Both you and mami have shown us what a family is and what can be accomplished by doing this adventure together”. Bailey then says “We want to see the world through our children’s eyes just like the two of you saw your world through our eyes. So we all would like to ask the two of you if you would both fly to Miami at the end of the month and join us on our traveling vacation to Boston together as a family”. Before our daughter even finishes her last sentence my wife flies out of her seat and into the arms of Bailey as she screams along the way “Yes…Yes your mami and I would love to join all of you on this adventure”. Then our children give my wife and me a guided tour of the RV.

The ride to the airport for Calliope’s and my flight back to Seattle was filled with plans for my wife and I to fly back to Miami on August 28th to give all of us plenty of time to drive to Boston. With Tim, Elisabeth, Bailey, Samuel and Ted receiving their CDL license, the majority of the driving will be split up between the five of them. With Bailey and Elisabeth being in charge of vacation highlights along the way, they are making several scheduled stops that are both fun and educational for our grandchildren to enjoy. Our sons check our bags as everyone walks towards our gate number as Calliope is holding Isabella in her arms and I am holding Matthew in my arms. When we reach the point in the airport that will no longer allow any non passengers to travel any further, my wife hands our granddaughter to her mother as I hand our grandson to his father as we both kiss their foreheads before leaving our grasp. Then our other five grandchildren give my wife and me some big hugs and kisses as we tell them we will see them soon. The one last thing my wife and I do is kiss and hug our children and their spouse’s tightly as we say our goodbyes with a promise that we will see them soon too. Then with one last kiss on each of our grandchildren faces we tell them that we love them and wave goodbye. Calliope and I find our seats as I bury my head in my wife’s shoulder and then in her chest as I begin to cry. Calliope takes her right hand as she strokes my hair and kisses my forehead and says “Baby, shhh…we are going to see them again real soon”. She then tilts my head upwards to face her and she wipes away my tears with a swipe of her thumb across my cheek. Then she pulls my head up so that my lips meet hers as she kisses me so passionately that we forget for a moment where we are until we hear a flight attendant clear her throat. Never looking at the flight attendant, my wife and I part our lips as I whisper “I love you, Calliope” and my wife smiles that special smile that is only reserved for me and says “I love you too, Arizona. All my life I have loved you and only you and I never will plan on stopping…Ever” as my wife kisses me again.

August 20, 2044 has arrived as my wife and I celebrate our anniversary by not going to work today and spending most of the morning in bed making love to one another. Calliope starts by waking me up as she goes down on me and brings me to two orgasms first thing this morning and then once I have gathered my strength back up I flip her on her back as I start at the top of her body and work my way down ever so slowly as I listen very carefully as my wife begs for me to fuck her senseless. My face becomes glazed over as I am sucking Calliope’s juices from her body as I bring her to another orgasm with my tongue and three fingers. It takes me several minutes of hearing my wife moaning how good I make her feel for me to finish licking her clean. Then I kiss my way back up my wife’s body to finally settle back on her lips as she inhales my lips and tongue into her mouth as I hear her moan again and this time it is because she is tasting herself on my tongue. I peel myself off my wife’s sweat soaked body and slide beside her as I pull the sheet and blankets over our naked and exposed bodies as I say “Good morning, baby”. Calliope kisses me deeply again as she pulls me back on top of her and says “Yes it has been a good morning huh baby”. We keep kissing each other for a few more minutes and then settle ourselves down just to rest in each other’s arms. Calliope is the first to say “Arizona, do you realize that this is the first of the thirty three years that we have celebrated our anniversary that we do not have any children living in this house”? I lay my head on my wife’s chest as I think back and then say “You know Calliope, you are right. We have had children in our home for every year and now today we do not. What do make of that baby”? My wife slides her body down our bed to meet my gaze as I see that shit eating grin I love so well as my Calliope says “Why don’t we make the most of our anniversary morning and repeat what we started already this morning. What do you say, Arizona”? I simply kiss my wife passionately and tenderly as I slowly slide my tongue between my wife’s teeth as I mount my wife and begin to make love and fuck my wife.

I am standing at our bathroom sink brushing my teeth after a rambunctious morning and mid afternoon of having countless orgasms and giving countless orgasms with my wife. My wife Calliope walks into our bathroom to brush her teeth too as we stand at the sink completely naked and enjoying each others view. After brushing our teeth my wife smiles at me in the mirror and says “Baby, you have the best sex hair I have ever seen on you”. I smile at my wife and then turn to face her as I say “Well baby, you wear your sex hair beautifully too”. Just as we are about to continue our sex day both of our phones ring as my wife says “Shit, I forgot to turn them back off when I put them on the charger”. I just giggle at her and make my way back into our bedroom where I pick up my phone and see it is my mother calling. I quickly put on my robe and answer the call. “Hey mama, how are you”? I say to her as she begins to breath normally again and says “Baby girl, you scared the shit out of your family when you and Callie never called any of us back. Everyone has been trying to call you both all morning to wish you both a happy anniversary but no one could get through. Please tell me everything is alright and you both were just getting it on since it is just the two of you now in that big old house”. My wife and I are cracking up as we listen to my mother ramble on and then finish with a comment about our sex life. I stop laughing long enough to say to my mother “Yes mama, we are fine and yes we were just enjoying each other’s company since for the first time in thirty three years of marriage we are childless”. I watch my mother breathe another sigh of relief as she says “Good…Good” and then my Aunt Jodi pops her head onto the screen and says “Hello there, baby girl”. My smile becomes wider as I say to her “Hello to you too, Aunt Jodi”. Then my mama asks me “What are your plans for tonight Arizona? Are you and Callie staying home and having a nice romantic dinner or are you both going out with some friends”? I decide to tease my mama a bit as I say “No mama, as soon as I am done talking to the two of you I plan on running around naked all day in our house and making love to my wife all day long” and then I hear my wife shockingly say as she looks onto the screen of my phone “Arizona…No mama, we are going out with Addison and Teddy, Alex and Lexie, Miranda and Ben, and George and Connie for dinner and some dancing…Arizona!!”. My mama and my Aunt Jodi and I all say to my wife together “Gotcha” as the three of us laugh at my wife. My Calliope then says to me but punctuates her voice into my phone to my mama and my aunt “You…You three ought to be ashamed of yourselves” as she tightens her grip on my body and kisses my lips. We say our goodbyes to my mama as we decide to catch up with our other family members that have called and left messages on our phones today wishing us a happy anniversary.

Sharing our anniversary dinner with our friends Addison and Teddy, Alex and Lexie, Miranda and Ben, and George and Connie at Campos Restaurant in downtown Seattle has been wonderful and amazing. But after three hours of the TV version of “This Is Your Life…A Calzona Story” my wife and I have had enough and all we want to do is dance. The ten of us pile back into the limo that Addison and Teddy rented so none of us have to drive home after a night of drinking as we all head towards The Emerald Bar or as we have all called it for over thirty years…Joe’s place. We walk into the bar and find that we have just walked into our own private party. Addison and Teddy have arranged a surprise anniversary party that includes all five of our children and their significant others as well as my mama and my Aunt Jodi. As my wife and I greet the remaining guests that include almost all of the people that my wife and I have worked with over the past thirty years. Joe and Walter have expanded the bar in recent years to include a cabaret setting complete with a stage and sound system as well as an enlarged game room. A buffet has been set up to make sure all of our guests get something to eat while they are all drinking. Joe and Walter along with their sons Jeff and Dave are all tending bar as they have hired four beautiful ladies to wait on all of us throughout the night. Seems a bit coincidental that two of these ladies are brunettes with an obvious Latin descent and two are blonde haired blue eyed pale complexion looking skin. I say something to Joe about these ladies and he says “That’s what Addison and Teddy ordered me to do”.

I limit my amount of drinking to a minimum because I know that Arizona is not drinking so I do not want to be drunk when we do finally arrive home after our surprise anniversary party tonight. With our children along with my mother and Aunt Jodi splitting their housing arrangements between Addison and Teddy and Miranda and Ben’s homes, because they all have to fly back to Boston and Miami tomorrow, I know that I will have my wife all to myself tonight. So my plan is to dance with my wife and everyone else all night long and not concentrate on drinking too heavily. With the majority of the guests sitting in the cabaret section of the bar along with my wife and I we begin to hear our family and friends talk about their lives with us as they all choose that one special song that describes what my wife and I mean to them. With a mixture of slow dancing into fast dancing as my wife and I listen to all different kinds of music throughout the night and all different kinds of stories about our lives and how being married for over thirty years has been an inspiration to each and every one of our guests. Then completely out of the blue, my wife Arizona stands and walks up onto the stage and stands behind the microphone and says “Everyone can I have your attention? I want to say something to all of you while my wife and I have you here”.

I give everyone a moment or two to find a seat and bring their attention back up to me. As I stand there I think how I hate public speaking almost as much as my wife but then I look around at our family and friends and think to myself there is no reason to be scared at all. They are just people…people that I have worked with, people I have yelled at, people that have shown me respect as I have shown them respect as well, people that I have tossed around ideas about surgeries and people that I love with all my heart. I begin to speak again as I say “Calliope and I would like to thank each and every one of you for coming out and spending your evening with us. All of you have had some significant meaning in our lives and I just want to tell all of you what you mean to me and my family. So now if my wife Calliope would please join me on stage, I would like to sing all of you a song…actually we would all like to sing you a song. Ladies and Gentlemen, I am pleased to present The Robbins-Torres Family”. The curtain opens to reveal Addison Barbara on the piano, Alex Karev and our son Alexander both on the drums, Timothy and Theodore both playing electric guitars, Samuel playing an acoustic guitar, Bailey on the mandolin with Addison, Teddy, Elisabeth and Frankie all singing back up. My wife takes my hand as I whisper in her ear what we are all about to sing as the music begins and everyone on stage begins to hum. I say to everyone in the crowd but my eyes are looking only at Miranda Bailey-Warren eyes when I begin to sing:

Another summer day

Has come and gone away

In Paris and Rome

But I wanna go home

Mmmmmmmmmmm

Then everyone sings:

May be surrounded by

A million people I

Still feel all alone

I just wanna go home

Oh, I miss you, you know

Then Calliope sings:

And I’ve been keeping all the letters that I wrote to you

Each one a line or two

“I’m fine baby, how are you?”

Well I would send them but I know that it’s just not enough

My words were cold and flat

And you deserve more than that

Another aeroplane

Another sunny place

I’m lucky, I know

But I wanna go home

Mmmm, I’ve got to go home

Let me go home

I’m just too far from where you are

I wanna come home

Then an electric guitar riff by our sons Timothy and Theodore

Then I sing:

And I feel like I’m living someone else’s life

It’s like I just stepped outside

When everything was going right

And I know why you just could not

Come along with me

This was not your dream

But you always believed in me

Calliope and I sing together:

Another winter day has come

And gone away

In either Paris or Rome

And I wanna go home

Let me go home

Then everyone in the bar sings along with our family:

And I’m surrounded by

A million people I

Still feel alone

And let me go home

Oh, I miss you, you know

Let me go home

I’ve had my run

Baby, I’m done

I gotta go home

Let me go home

It’ll all be all right

I’ll be home tonight

I’m coming back home.

With tears in our eyes and hearing everyone’s applause, I kiss my wife tenderly. Then we both swallow Miranda in our arms as my wife says to our dear…dear friend “That song was for you Miranda. We love you so much”. For the next several hours the night is filled with everyone singing their favorite songs and dancing the night away. Then the night finally comes to an end as my wife and I close out the night by singing Katy Perry’s “I Kissed A Girl” with everyone sings and dancing along with us. Then everyone gave hugs and kisses to each other as we promised to meet at the diner down the street for breakfast before all of our family members have to head to the airport and head home. With a few more goodbye hugs and kisses given to our children, my wife and I begin to travel to our home to finish the night just like we started the day out this morning.

Calliope and I decide to use up some of our remaining vacation time as we arrive in Miami a few days earlier than expected. We do not tell our children of this development but surprise them instead. First we stop at Timothy’s office at Torres Industries as we walk right into his office unannounced. The shocked look on our son’s face is priceless as he gathers both my wife and I into his arms. After a little while of catching up on his life and the lives of his family, he asked my wife and me to accompany him on picking up our grandchildren from vacation bible school. With his three kids along with Bailey’s two as the five of them attend this week long event at St. Mary’s school, we jump at the chance to pick our grandkids up from the school my wife once attended as a child. Timothy sits in the town car as my wife and I stand outside and wait for our five grandchildren to exit the school. Gabriela Abigail is the first to spot the two of us as she screams “Grandmas” and drops her book bag on the ground and begins to run to my wife and me. Then I notice that our grandson Timmy grabs his sister’s book bag off the ground as he carries both his book bag and his sister’s as he and Samuel make their way to my wife and I. Then like clockwork our other two granddaughters make a mad dash to Calliope and I. With all five of our grandchildren smothering my wife and me with hugs and kisses, we all climb into the town car and head to the Torres mansion all the while listening to all of our grandchildren taking their turns telling Calliope and I about their days at school. When we finally reach home, the grandchildren, Timothy and my wife enter the house first as I walk around the side of the house to find Bailey and Elisabeth sitting on the veranda as Bailey is feeding Isabella. Elisabeth is the first to scream “Mama” as Bailey looks up grinning ear to ear as she sees me coming towards her with an equally grinning smile crossing my face. I kiss each one of my girls as Bailey has just finished feeding Isabella as she asks me “Do you want to hold her, mama” and without saying a word I take the newest member of the Robbins-Torres clan into my arms as I take a seat next to my girls. After several minutes the rest of the clan makes their way outside to the veranda as Bailey and Elisabeth greet their children and ask them about their day at vacation bible school. Hearing the same stories from our grandchildren that I had heard just and hour earlier never gets old. My wife makes her entrance outside as I hear her ask very loudly “Where’s my Bella”? Calliope walks out to see me holding our granddaughter as she says in her best grandmami voice “There she is…there’s my baby girl, Bella” as she sits next to me and begins to take her from my grasp. I pull away from her grip a little to say something to her when she says “Arizona” and then I say “Wait one minute, Calliope. This beautiful little creature here is named Isabella…not Bella…and definitely not Izzie. Now children will you please tell your grandmami what your names are”? As each of our grandchildren say their proper first names as we all hear “Stephanie, Gabriela, Timothy, Michelle, Samuel”. Then I turn to Bailey as I smile and nod as we hear her say “Bailey” then I turn to our daughter-in-law as she quickly says “Elisabeth” and before I can even look at our son, he swiftly says “Timothy”. Then I look back at my wife as I say to her “Calliope, have you, in the past thirty years or so, ever heard me call any of our children and grandchildren by any other name but their given birth name”? My wife smiles at my antics as she says “No my dear, I have not” then I move my body to face my wife as I silently say to her with the handing of our granddaughter in her arms as I hear her say in front of everyone “Well hello there, Isabella. Your grandmamma is still one crazy chick but you are going to love her as much as we all do” as I say in my surprised voice “Calliope” as the rest of our family laughs at my wife and I as Stephanie says “Grandmami, you are so funny”.

Like father, like daughter is what all six of us are thinking of my wife and her structured checklist as we stand outside the monstrosity that is now the Robbins-Torres family RV waiting for her to finish checking off her list. Just like her father before her, Lt. Col. Daniel Timothy Robbins of the United States Marine Corp, my wife is doing a head count, food count and going over everything on her checklist as everyone is getting ready for our road trip to Boston. With the road map in hand and the GPS system in the RV, she along with the rest of us, are going to drive and ride along the roads less traveled as we make this vacation one to remember. It is 7 a.m. as Timothy and Elisabeth are the first to take the reins at the wheel as they sit in the front seats while the rest of us keep an eye on their children so they will not be distracted. Exact mileage from Miami to Boston is almost 1500 miles so the Robbins-Torres clan figures if they travel close to eight hundred miles a day they can be there in two…maybe three days tops but that’s if they drive straight through. Once we drive out of Florida then we will do some sightseeing as the boys and me want to stop in Savannah and Charleston to see some Civil War memorabilia and Arizona and the rest of the girls want to go shopping in all the cute, quaint little shops that line these beautiful cities. With a list of campgrounds on Arizona’s checklist, we plan on driving in shifts about ten to twelve hours a day and stopping for the evening at the campground. The first campground we plan on stopping at is the Biltmore Gardens RV Park just five minutes from Savannah. We can take the trolley system from the RV Park into the city to see the sights. Arizona pulls out the plastic tub from the closet filled with board games, playing cards and coloring books for the children to play with as all the grandchildren find a place on the floor and wait for their grandmamma to play with them. After a few hours of driving and talking about all the cities we are travel through to the grandchildren and a necessary change in drivers as Ted takes over the wheel with my wife sitting up front with him, Bailey, Elisabeth and I begin to start making lunch. Tim and Sam take over the duties of entertaining the children as they play video games with them as Matthew and Isabella are taking their afternoon naps. Nine hours after we leave Miami, Ted pulls the family RV into the campground parking spot at the Biltmore Gardens RV Park as we all exit the RV and take a well deserved walk around the RV Park to stretch our legs.

Tim and Sam gathered up the children and take them over to the park to play. Arizona, Bailey and Elisabeth go to check out the surroundings of the campground and to pick up a few items from the local grocery store. Ted and I were getting things ready for dinner as the campground offers an outdoor grill so the two of us can use to cook out on. When my wife and daughter and daughter-in-law came back to the RV, the three of them began setting up the picnic table for dinner and straightening up the inside of the RV. The children along with Tim and Sam came back to the RV after playing at the playground as they wash up for dinner. Then with everyone taking turns and taking a grandchild, we all go to the communal shower rooms to take our showers. With Matthew and Isabella all fed and given their baths and in their pajamas, all of us are sitting outside the RV with me holding our granddaughter Gabriela in my lap as my wife is holding Michelle and Bailey is holding Isabella and Elisabeth has Stephanie sitting in her lap as Samuel is on his father’s shoulders and Timmy is on his father’s shoulders too as well as Ted has Matthew in a baby Bjorn with him sleeping against his chest. All the adults are talking as we all hear Timmy say to his dad “Daddy, what’s with all the lights over there” as he points off to his right. Then we all hear what sound like a crowd of people cheering as the rest of us stand up to see what is going on. Curiosity is getting the better of us as Tim and Sam close up and lock the RV as we all decide to see what is going on.

As we all crest a small grassy incline we come upon a little league baseball game in a big league park. The Savannah Sand Gnats are hosting the Rome Braves at Grayson Stadium as Tim purchases tickets for all of us. First up though is a little league game and then the big boys play. We all take our seats as our five grandchildren are enthralled by what they are watching. Matthew and Isabella are absolute angels during the two baseball games as they wake up and then fall back to sleep and then wake up again. My wife and our oldest son each catch a foul ball, without the help of a baseball glove mind you, as our grandchildren play with the baseballs throughout the games. After devouring two large buckets of popcorn as well as some other snacks and about a twelve pack of bottled waters, we all make our way back to the RV to get a peaceful night of sleep before we venture into the city of Savannah tomorrow for some sightseeing. With all the children all tucked firmly in their beds, my wife and daughter come back outside the RV to sit with the rest of the grownups to plan tomorrow’s events. Ted has built a fire in the fire pit and we all spend some quality time together for a few hours. Then my wife excuses herself along with Bailey and Elisabeth as the three of them head off to bed. My wife bends down to kiss my lips as she whispers to me “Don’t be long baby” as I tell her that I won’t. About thirty minutes later Tim and Sam head inside to go to bed as Ted and I finish off the last two beers in the twelve pack. Then Ted puts out the fire in the fire pit as we both make our way inside to RV.

I find my wife all sprawled out spread eagle in the middle of our bed only covered by a very thin sheet as I gently toss the sheet off her body and the glow of the moon illuminates her body below me. I cautiously begin kissing the insides of my wife’s thighs with my lips as my hands creep underneath the hem of her t-shirt and find her gorgeous boobs. As I kiss and suck on the thinly veiled fabric of my wife’s underwear and my palms begin to massage her breasts, she begins to move about all the while moaning to my touches. With my right hand I tug my wife’s Victoria Secret panties off her body with such force that I not only completely wake her up but I tear them so hard that I scare her in the process. Before I can slide my tongue inside of her to pleasure her, Arizona pushes my face from in between her legs and says “No Calliope”. I hover my body over my wife’s as I try again to seduce her by sliding my tongue up her chest and trying to kiss her but she smells the beer on my breath as I am slightly drunk and says “No” again. My body falls on top of Arizona’s with a thud as I say very loudly “What the hell, Arizona. Why are you being this way? All I want to do is make love to you”. My wife tosses me off her body as she says to me without raising her voice “Calliope, you come in here in our bed drunk with this RV full of our children and grandchildren and say you want to make love to me but all you really want is to fuck me. You know how I feel about you wanting to drunk fuck me so no Calliope not tonight. Now get some sleep” as she storms out of the bedroom.
