Home for The Holidays
Well, I'm back in Bivins, the land of pines and boar.
I'm feeling pretty upbeat lately. I'm looking forward to spending some time with Ben, who'll be home for a little while. It'll be the first time I've seen my older brother in something like 2 years. It's strange to think so much time has passed; it doesn't feel that way. He's having some rough times lately.
He's working as a contractor in Alabama. His wife lives in Colorado. He's far from anyone he knows, working with ornery engineers who butt heads with him over design aspects everyday... he works 6 days a week.. when he goes back in January, he'll be pulling 10-14 hour days nonstop for 30 days. no days off. I can't imagine.
I hope this break is what he needs.
It saddens me to think that I didn't appreciate him when we lived together for 15 years.
I miss him now, though.
