An interesting report on CNN today mentioned how the understanding of D-Day has changed over the years. At first there were Generals still alive to tell the tale. Then, slowly, there were only Colonels and Lieutenants. Today, there are only privates and captains and sergeants. No one left to give a first hand account the overall big picture, only those who actually swam ashore, who scrambled for defilade, who climbed the cliffs and who walked across France. All too soon, even they will be gone. I remain in utter awe of what happened 65 years ago. I think I always will. May we never, ever have to do something like that again.
Blessings.
