Comments: My lit exam's tomorrow but i have really lost all motivation to study, i thought that maybe writting a drabble would help! i love ruki T_T
Ruki laughs and it sounds exactly like stardust would, sprinkling all over the tiny, dusty apartment that is claustrophobic and small and stifling and not big enough for their hopes and dreams.
Ruki is the boy with dreams floating in his head and glittering stars in his eyes, and a smile so wide and bright it matches the sun.
Kai shakes his head, thumbs flipping through the thick literature text he's forcing himself to read, except the tiny words trailing the pages aren't making any sense, because all Kai can focus on is Ruki's laugh. Kai smiles, coyly, silently as his heart yearns to touch the boy sitting beside him, the boy with the crinkled eyes and the cute laugh and the soft fingers ghosting the pages of his math textbook.
The books lay on the wooden table, pens and highlighters and stationery scattered everywhere, studies all forgotten and the white lamp shining too bright, making Kai's eyes hurt.
'you're too funny, kai! i don't think that even makes sense... did you make that math law yourself?!'
Ruki can barely breathe from the hilarity of it all, Kai had merely told Ruki to solve the math problem by using a weird formula Kai just came up with : 'X+ Y = cigarettes X coffee = you and i studying hopelessly''
Ruki stops laughing then, the laughter dying off, trailing off like a comet would across the darkest night sky, leaving silence to settle in oppressively once more. He yawns then, fingers clutching a cigarette, the flame disappearing for a moment as the stick lights up.
Ruki breathes in deep, letting the smoke settle in his lungs, letting the nicotine rush through his bloodstream and conciousness. Kai rubs his eyes tiredly, wondering if his heart would just stop pestering him like this, stop nagging at him to touch the smaller boy beside him.
'god i so needed that smoke'. Ruki exhales. Kai doesn't know what comes over him then, but he needs to listen to his heart or he might just have a heart attack from the crazy speed at which his heart is beating, or maybe its Ruki's exhalation, those beautiful plush lips - Kai doesn't know, he doesn't think, he just follows the breathings of his heart -
Kai reaches over and kisses Ruki on his soft lips, all quiet breathing and stammering heartbeats, his lips barely ghosting over the other's chastely, afraid of Ruki's reaction.
Kai pulls back, and Ruki stares at him shocked, eyes wide with wonder and kai swears he can see the oceans ebbing and flowing in Ruki's brown orbs. And his heart's hammering faster than ever, afraid of rejection, afraid of the disintegration of their friendship, so afraid -
Ruki breathes in shakily, pulling kai closer for another kiss.
And all is right in Kai's world, the scales balancing in favour of love and all that is beautiful in life, because he has finally listened to the breathings of his heart, and he only sees stars and comets, the water ebbing and flowing in rhythm to his shaky breathing.
Kai only sees Ruki.
