I have a question for you writers. What motivates you to write? Is it the idea of selling the next Twilight? The crazy people your best friend tells you about that you feel just need to be characters in a story? An escape from every day life? Or just your love of it?
I love writing. I've pretty much always loved it. And I wouldn't have realized I want to be an author if it weren't for Meg Cabot. Teen Idol was the first YA book I ever read. If it weren't for that book, who knows? Maybe I'd still be reading children's fiction.
But lately, my motivation comes from the thought of college. As in, the sooner I finish my novel, get it published, make money, and become the next Stephenie Meyer, the sooner I can drop out of college.
I realize college would still be a good plan. But it's miserable. I took psychology this semester, and I got more writing done in class than I did learning. I do believe that some people just aren't made for college. Am I one of them? That's still to be determined...
My point is (if I have one), I should probably paint this reminder about dropping out of college on my wall or something. Because every time I think about this fact, I feel the sudden urge to write.
