The Princess Epidemic in Single Seattle Culture
Seattle, we have a problem.
There are too many men and not enough women.
Hetero men are letting the hetero and bi girls get away with bloody murder here. It's creating this female princess culture that's driving me crazy. I'm finding that women I think are awesome when we hang out solo are a complete embarrassment to me when I introduce them to my guy friends because they are so used to being pandered to and worshiped.
Men, you have a responsibility to not put up with our bullshit. I know it sucks to have to wait so long to get a girlfriend, but that doesn't mean you have to take endless emotional abuse just to get some action. Worst case scenario, there's too many women in NYC, you could always rope one of them back to the west coast. It wouldn't be the first time Seattle has imported women ;>
Women, we have a responsibility to not take advantage of the kindness of the men (and women!) who are relieved to finally have a girlfriend. And we have a responsibility to not gift male ass holes with sex. There are too many kind, funny, sexy men here to put up with addicts, abusers and guys who aren't that into us. I keep seeing the same jerks getting laid on a regular basis while ridiculous numbers of cool guys hang out twiddling their thumbs. I've been guilty of this too, and we all have our reasons, I just want to call it out.
You may not be that guy. You may not be that girl. You decide.
To the men (and women) who maintain their high standards and expect an equal in a partner: thank you.
To the women (and men) who treat their partner like an equal and not a servant: thank you.
Given its history, I think Seattle will always maintain this sex disparity.
In 1864, 11 "Mercer girls" of marrying age were imported from the east.
In 1866, another 34 "Mercer girls" were imported.
In 1943, Boeing started importing women workers from around the country.
And yet, we still have more men. Way more men.
