O:) Who started a new business? Oh yeah, that's right, me and A. BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! And Lauren and Russell, it's a month for new businesses :>

I hereby present The Purple Store, LLC at www.purplestore.com

You feel a sudden urge to buy something purple ;)

p.s. Goth is under "Fashion"

1. We needs purple hair photos of you, if you've ever dyed your hair purple and want to share. Send it to me, and include what dyes you used and any other helpful tidbits that kept it purple longer or helped clean up the mess. I also so need help with what purple makeup is good and what sucks. Have any opinions?

2. A told me this idea a few months ago. I was like, "Cool". And then, after 2 weeks, I came back and said, "No, that's brilliant, let's do it". So we did it. The current site is market research to see if this is a viable business. We currently receive a small commission as an associate of Amazon.com which allows us to access most of their inventory and third party seller inventory so we can figure out what purple people neeeeeeeed.

3. This is so beta rev 1. Does it break? Quick, tell me. I wrote the whole site by hand in Perl and A handled the actual editorial content and layout. Also, the hosting company we're using has had some really crappy problems with our database over the last few days that has me worried. Suddenly, the left nav and content will stop displaying. I'll have a user-friendly error up in a few days in the event that that does happen. I'm hoping the problems fixed, but honestly I don't think it is yet.

4. Once our friends and family have had a chance to poke around and provide feedback and suggestions, we're going to start doing real promotion. This is a fully functioning site (except for bugs I haven't found yet) so if you buy something, you are really buying it.

5. If we have a decent success rate with the site, one of our promotional methods is going to be to collect unique purple objects from local artists and do trade shows and conventions. We missed Norwescon for this year :( but have our eyes open for other opportunities. Victoria, Blue Jay, I'm already thinking of both of you. I also have several local Fremont artists in mind - designer light switch plates, jewelry, the funky recycled coasters and bathroom tiles of one local glass recycling company, leather & fetish wear... check out the Contact Us page if you have something purple you make that you're interested in pimping with The Purple Store. I also have an upholsterer in mind if we get up the bank to do a crushed velvet violet wingback chair like my burgundy one and/or a metallic purple vinyl chair.

6. I'm having way too much fun with this. GRiN. Now, what would rock is, if it's successful enough that I never have to get a REAL job again ;)

We're doing something at The Purple Store called The Purple Council. We're asking purple lovers to do a product review and recommendation from time to time in exchange for a purple bribe of some kind at the end of each successful business year. It could be a purple highlighter or a massive purple gift set of cool random stuff, just depending on how well we do and what kind of contacts we make in the next year.

Let me know if you LOVE purple and are interested and aren't already on this list: mcobweb, ocicat, Black Maru, misspurplepearl, Sadee.

adam, purple
