Las Vegas
Comments from my first trip to Las Vegas, which happened two weeks ago.
1. The hieroglyphs on the furniture and some of the pillars at the Luxor Hotel are backwards.
2. Resist the urge to go to Tournament of Kings at the Excalibur. Whack-a-Thog at Volunteer Park is far more entertaining, and one doesn't get unanticipated dead cornish hens served to them at Volunteer Park. Huzzah!
3. First week of December is a great time to go to Vegas. The weather is gorgeous, the rates are good, and it's not horribly over crowded.
4. Blue Man Group. Go. Go again. And again. As often as possible. (Darren - some of the back up percussionists weren't much taller than me ... are you sure the height limit isn't for only the actual Blue guys?)
5. If I go back, I'm going to look into staying at the New York New York.
6. The Faberge Museum at the Bellagio is totally worth seeing, especially if you're a miniatures freak like I am. And the gellato shop in the Bellagio is totally worth visiting.
7. The Oasis Spa at the Luxor is very worth spending a few hours in. I'm now a spa convert.
8. The chocolate counter at the back of the M&M store ... the chocolate is really mediocre, and way too expensive.
9. Really great price on chess sets at the Walgreens on the Strip ;) (yes, yes, I did stay in my hotel room one night and play chess, sue me)
10. I saw two F-15s near Edmonds Base en route. Purr.
11. Old Pancake House in Eugene, OR (en route) is clearly where the gods eat breakfast. The Apple Pancake... drool
12. I didn't get to see Carrot Top live. Woe is me.
13. I didn't see a magic show. Woe is me.
14. I didn't see any nude dancing women. Woe is me.
15. The Luxor breakfast buffet rules.
