"Fraulein Maya it is," Klavier agreed, trying to buy some time away from explaining who 'Herr Fo' was and why he'd inadvertently said his name. He wrung out the cloth in his hands and stared at the grayish water draining from the rag as it occurred to him that he had no reason to shy away from an explanation. Why should he feel... awkward? embarrassed? well, whatever the emotion was, there was no reason for it and it seemed silly to let it affect what he said to the girl.
"Herr Forehead," Klavier stated the nickname he had given Apollo during their first day of trial together. "He is..." An acquaintance? No they were closer than that, weren't they? After all, the two of them had worked on several cases together. A friend? Were they close enough to be considered friends? Klavier liked to think so, but... all the time they spent together was purely professional, wasn't it? Well, apart from the time he'd sent Apollo and Trucy tickets to his concert. "... a coworker of mine. Although, 'was' would be the appropriate English verb to use, now, ja?"

"Was? Oh, right, before you got teleported over here, huh?" Satisfied that her wall was clean, Maya looped the rag over her sash, heedless of the grayish, faintly damp mark it left on her robes. Once Klavier finished his wall, they'd have to figure out how to remove the wreckage of the table and how to replace it. "Coworker, huh? Your legal aide? I didn't know prosecutors had assistants, too--Miles never has anybody near him in court, but then, he probably doesn't need help like Nick does."

"Nein, he was a defense attorney," Klavier was satisfied his wall was clean as it became almost reflective with shine. He tossed the moist rag onto the side of the bucket where it could be picked up to clean something else if necessary. The prosecutor laughed, "Perhaps it is a trademark of the Wright Agency? It seemed like Herr Forehead always has someone there with him in court as well."

"You mean Nick could actually afford hiring more people?" Were it physically possible, Maya was certain her eyebrows would be shooting off into her hair now. "He has his own legal aide, huh? Oh, can you grab that piece of the table? We can probably just chuck it overboard or something--I wonder if I know them? I hope they live up to the Maya Fey traditional of legal assistance!" Grinning, she shoved three detached table legs under her arm and stooped to pick up a particularly large plane of the ruined table, waiting by the door for Klavier to follow her up so they could walk topside to dispose of the evidence.

"Ahahahaha," Klavier thought of how scandalized Apollo might look from someone assuming he was no more than Phoenix Wright's legal aide. He sauntered over to the other side of the table to help her drag it out, "Nein, Fraulein. Apollo is a defense attorney. His legal aide--as you are to Herr Wright--is the young magician Fraulein." He paused for a moment, wondering if Maya were a magician as well. That attire certainly wasn't typical of most legal aides, "Fraulein Maya, what is it that you do? Other than helping Herr Wright."

"Young magician fraul... oh! You mean Trucy?" Maya mock-scowled, considering, and affected a vastly put-upon sigh. "Well, I guess she's alright to inherit the position."

The pieces of the table made a very satisfying splash, and the spray of water that jetted up from the larger piece being abruptly hoisted over the railing glittered prettily in the moonlight. Maya blinked at Klavier's question as she disposed of the legs and turned to head back to Phoenix's room. "Me? Oh, I'm a spirit medium! ...Well, technically, I'm in training and all, but I've been getting a lot better at channeling lately!"

"A spirit medium?" Klavier walked beside her, giving her a glance with one brow slightly raised. "Channeling?" The rockstar had never been one to believe in things like magic, ghosts or spirits. Though he had a taste for flashy extravagance on stage himself, he always knew there was a logical and real explanation for every trick performed.

The young woman beamed back, either ignoring or completely missing the prosecutor's apparent skepticism. "Yeah, channeling! It's calling on the ghosts of the dead--the woman of the Fey clan have strong mystical power flowing through our blood." She paused in her explanation to tug thoughtfully on one of the large loops of the bow in her sash. "Maybe we should stop by the storage rooms, or the spare bedrooms? They might have a replacement desk we can stea--borrow! Anyway... just like your music, we might as well make a business of it, yanno?"

"Ja, I am certain that desks in storage were meant for just these sorts of occassions," the blond prosecutor agreed, allowing her to lead the way. He was still quite new to the ship and did not know the location of the storage rooms. "I would liked to see you channel sometime, Fraulein," he added. It was curiosity. How was she pulling off the trick? She seemed honest enough. Perhaps she actually believed she could channel the dead. Oh well, it was a harmless delusion.

"We can try the spare rooms first," Maya said decisively. She didn't want there to be any chance of the door locking from the outside, like Nick's unfortunate accident, and so she led the blonde further down the hallway from Nick's room and began trying open doors as soon as she was sure they were past the occupied ones.

"Sure thing--" Click. Empty, save for a lamp and a dusty dresser. "--Mr. Gavin, in fact--" Click. Also empty, excepting a really rather hideous floor rug. "--I was thinking of calling on my sis--" Click. Fortune smiled on the pair as the third room produced a desk not exactly identical to Phoenix's, but close enough, anyway, and she bounced excitedly into the room. "--cos it's been awhile since Pearly 'n' Nick've seen her, and it'll make them happy! and maybe more forgiving if he DOES find out about the bomb thing..."

The German prosecutor strode into the room, preparing to take one side of the desk, "Are you certain you'll be able to lift this, Fraulein Maya? I'm sure we could enlist some help to carry it back to his room." The other pieces of the desk had been fuel for the fire, and thus didn't weigh much, but this desk, though it looked lightweight, was still a desk and Maya was a petite girl.

Klavier had gathered from contex clues earlier that 'Nick' was Maya's nickname for Herr Wright, but he did not yet know the other person the the spirit medium mentioned. "Forgive me for my lack of knowledge, but who is 'Pearly'?"

FINALLY I USED THIS ICON 8Db burgersplzthx September 20 2009, 06:52:01 UTC
Maya pumped one fist in the air enthusiastically, grinning fiendishly at the prosecutor. "No worries, Mr. Gavin! I can pull my weight---and the less people that know about me accidentally trashing Nick's room, the better." Less of a chance it'll somehow get back to him. Though they had a little electricity and the incinerator at Kurain, there wasn't running water and more often then not she and Pearly had to draw water for their baths, cooking, and cleaning, so she was used to heavy work.

"Oh, that's right, you haven't met yet, right? Pearly's my little cousin--Pearl Fey, she's also a spirit medium. And always trying to get me and Nick together." The elder medium made a face at that, wheeling around to take ahold of her end of the desk. "Ready--? Okay, let's go!"

"Schon gut!" he said appreciatively, giving her a smile, "You're a tough girl! I like that." He walked backwards through the door, so Maya would be the one steering them as they walked back to Phoenix's room.

"Ahaha, you and Herr Wright?" imaging a girl with this much energy with the forever-uninterested retired defense attorney he knew was certainly a laughable concept. "How old is kleine Perle?" he asked.

I LOVE IT. Nick's suffering just paints it with such a beautiful color. burgersplzthx September 20 2009, 07:37:08 UTC
The young woman grinned cheekily at the compliment, nudging the desk a little bit to help guide Klavier around a corner as they made their way back to Phoenix's room. "Someone's gotta be the tough one when Nick's busy being all laid back! And yeah, me and Nick--totally weird, isn't it? Like dating my brother or something, gosh." She gave another nudge from the opposite direction to point Klavier's back at the doorway to the room. "Pearly's nine. She's the cutest little thing in the world! Remind me to introduce you guys when you before I channel Mia."

That's not sadistic at all. rockinthetrial September 20 2009, 08:11:20 UTC
"I will," Klavier stepped back into Phoenix's room, setting down the desk where the previous one's remains had been. He ran a hand past his bangs, flipping them slightly in a confident and pleased gesture. "Ach, I hope Herr Wright did not have anything important in his other desk."

I have no idea what you're talking about burgersplzthx September 20 2009, 08:20:29 UTC
Maya tilted her head, inspecting the desk, opening and closing a few of the drawers. "I don't think so? Lucky for us, he took his laptop with him and his briefcase is in the closet, so I think... probably nothing important--?"

The spirit medium frowned--she'd felt a weird twinge for the briefest of seconds after touching the know to the middle drawer, but a cursory inspection of its interior turned out nothing. Shrugging, Maya slid the drawer shut and turned to the rest of the room, then replaced the table lamp on its surface. "Well, one thing down! Lessee--we gotta replace the bed stuff and just pick up all of Nick's junk from the floor, and then I think we're good to go!"
