I just had an idea for a new form of laundry drier. It would have a UV emitter, a couple of thousand watts, instead of the conventional heating elements. A lot of that energy would come out simply as heat, which isn't really a problem in this context; but a lot would be visible and UV, which would be effective for bleaching and sanitizing.
I suppose it might be useful to have the conventional heating elements as well, for fabrics that would fade too badly in the equivalent of a short blast of bright sunlight.
