[OTP!Family verse] Thunder

Summary: Momo-chan doesn't like thunderstorms.

He is more of a light sleeper but he’s never been afraid of thunderstorms so he doesn’t even notice the thunder and lightning rumbling outside tonight.
What wakes him is the continuous tugging on the blanket, accompanied by sniffles and a heartbreaking little whimper.
He slowly opens his eyes, blinking away the sleep until he can see her small frame standing next to the bed only illuminated by the moonlight filtering through the curtains.
„Daddy“
A small hickup. She isn’t sobbing but the tears that silently run down her cheeks are enough to make his heart ache and his protective instinct flare up immediately. Untangling one arm from under the blanket, he reaches out to put his hand on her head and lightly ruffles her hair that is already tousled from sleep.
„What’s wrong, princess?”
Another flash of lightning illuminates the room with its cold white light for a second and she winces in fear, grabbing onto his arm, her eyes scrunched up tightly.
“Scary thunderstorm?”
She gives the smallest of nods, her bottom lip quivering dangerously.
“Wanna sleep here with daddy tonight?”
Another nod, this time a more vigorous one though.
He pulls away the blanket enough for her to crawl into bed next to him before wrapping them both in it like a giant cocoon, muffling the sounds around them.
She snuggles close immediately, sneaking one hand under his arm, seeking warmth.
He gently nudges his nose into her hair, whispering to her in a soft voice.
“It’s okay. Daddy’s gonna protect you.”
He can feel her body relax against his bare chest, her erratic breathing slowly going back to normal.
“Good night, Momo-chan”
He only gets a sleepy murmur in return and a moment later she has already fallen asleep again, safely wrapped in his arms.
As he listens to the rain drumming against the window from outside it doesn’t take long for him to doze off, too. He actually quite likes thunderstorms.
