holy shit, you guys. i just got my first paycheck earned solely by writing skillz! (well, not counting screenplay competitions.)
the producers my manager and i were in negotiations with finally came through with a solid contract we all agreed on, and i TOTALLY SIGNED IT TODAY. FIRST EVER.
also, it came with A REAL LIVE CHECK. which, honestly, after i pay my lawyer and manager won't even cover a month's rent. but still. A CHECK.
so now they're taking my script to directors. and by "now" i mean "sometime this year". things go so slow here. but still. OMIGODEXCITING. so yeah, i just sold these producers the rights to market my script for one year. if a studio decides to buy it, i get paid AGAIN. and THAT paycheck will, fortunately, cover many months' rent. studios are made of money. crazy gumby jewish money.
also, i start my brand new dayjob tomorrow morning. i'm so not going to sleep tonight.
