Sorry for the recent picspams, you may shoot me if I clutter your friends pages too much. But I thought some of you might appreciate knowing what happens to an angora when he gets sheared...
Sir Lamb von Cotton, Lamb for short, was about a week overdue. I try to shear him every three months, when his wool is about three inches long. But I wanted to try clippers this time and it took me a while to get around to buying some. I bought Wahl dog clippers, small, battery-operated that are meant for faces and other delicate areas. Worked like charm!
This is where we started... Quite the fuzzball, eh?
Process shot... Hooboy are we not in his best books right now! (the fingers and toes belong to my SO and co-conspirator.)
Aaaand... done! The difference is huge. He shrank about half his size!
The clippers were definitely an excellent investment, previously this took me over three hours with scissors, and now over an hour. The wool looked nicer, too. I'll collect a few shearings' worth and send it somewhere for spinning.
