Character Name~!

So, I've been going under the name bunnyDowell for a while now. It was never meant to be a name, more of a placeholder until I worked out a good internet-alias / character name, I am a bunny, and my IRL name is Dowell. So it's kinda odd when I hear people saying things like "Heyas Bunnydowell!" or "You know Bunnydowell?". Most people close to me

In an ideal world you wouldn't be unfairly judged for what you've done/said on the Internet (unless of course you did/said something deserving of judgement :p)

I don't like the idea of having to be selective about which aspects of your personality you show to people and which you hide. I wouldn't like people at work finding my journal but then there isn't really anything I'm ashamed of on it so I probably wouldn't mind all that much unless *they* let it affect their working relationship with me. I don't think it should though. Someone I work with had pictures e-mailed round the whole office of him in his bedroom in drag (his girlfriend dressed him up and took them :p) and everyone laughed but I think they kind of respected him more for it. That kind of thing might be embarassing but perhaps that says more about society than the individual concerned.

I guess I'm lucky cause I'm not the only Alex Greenwood and I'm also not the only Adiemus or Ranmaru but I still don't act recklessly online just as I do in real life otherwise I'd be living according to double standards. A pseudonym shouldn't be an excuse to act out of character (unless you're roleplaying or simply joking etc. which applies whether you're using a pseudonym or not). I may have a bit more confidence when I interact with people online but that's down to a weakness that I suffer from in person more than a trait that I "put on" online so I still consider Ranmaru and Alex to be the same person.

But yeah I like Dowell o.o I know it's just a name but the fact that it's rare and that the name's been with you your whole life makes it encompass *all* of you in some way, past and present. It's as if it describes the whole person rather than just the furry part of you. Or another way to look at it is that Dowell is good because it *doesn't* try to describe you :p

But then again nicknames are fun and harmless :3 Gonna catch a train home now!
