This was so lovely. It truly made my heart smile. It's so neat how we both utilize our pyschic fangirl link, create a fic with all the same basic elements, but have a completely different story and take on it.

This fic was wonderfully introspective, especially on Hotaru. I really enjoyed reading her background and seeing how she changed in response to her growing friendship with Chibi-Usa, Usagi, the Inner and Outer Senshi. I see her in pretty much the same fashion; she's still a little shy and generally reserved, but she can be very buoyant and light-hearted with the people she loves, knowing that they all love her in return. She's still a little on the outside, but that's ok with her. She's not sad, lonely and angst ridden; she remembers all the fun moments she shared with Usagi and the Inners, but she knows and accepts that she's not a core member of that group.

Then there comes along Mr. Silver-Haired-Muscular-Super-Masculine-General Sephiroth. Good thing he's very firm on his feet. ;-)LOLZ. I love Hotaru's whole attempt to get him to have fun and laugh. Psychic Fangirl link clicked again when you describe his usual laughter. It's usually mocking and when it's not, it's very subdued--a low chuckle. The concept of fun is foreign to him. I like how it took several different approaches from Hotaru to get him to lighten up. It was like he waded in the water, "Hey this is fun! SPLASH WARS!" It started out, "This is stupid, why am I doing this? Hotaru that's right." It was particularly touching to see how much he was concerned about making Hotaru smile and keeping her smiling.

It totally seemed natural for Sephiroth to go from glomping Hotaru to sexing her up; DAMN OUR PFG LINK! It's like you said, he can't express his emotions in words, and since he's a man of action, the best way to do so is SEX!!! LOLZ. It was a very romantic and highly sexy smut scene! Your description of the sensations felt by Hotaru and Sephiroth were so vivid. I was more than willing to abandon realism when I read about them making love in the waves. And then the gratefullness that Sephiroth tells Hotaru he has for her was so moving. It was a beautiful *sob* worthy moment. ;_; I didn't actually tear up though; just felt very moved. The moment seemed so precious.

I was very happy you write a long fic. Those song memes have not been cutting it lately! I wanted an epic smut fic! It's so funny how smut fics can get so long and take forever to get to the smut. It's all this f'ing backstory, plot building, character introspection, etc etc that has to be done first; it's what makes the smut worth all the wait though. I hope Michiru has a private beach house on her private beaches that Hotaru and Sephiroth are staying at with the rest of their clothes, although they all come off again sooner or later. ;-) Spring break is coming up, and I just finished two big papers; Titus Adronicus has closed, so more rehearsal or shows; that means I have time enough to write smut!

OMG yaaay! I'm so glad you enjoyed it. As you said, it's neat that we were able to take the same seed of a story and develop it differently...

I'm glad you liked the development of Hotaru's character in this fic. When I started writing, I wanted to write something that delved a bit more into her perspective and mindset (as you noted with the previous fic that it was mostly about Sephiroth). It seems he still wiggled his way into the center of this one, but I thought I did OK with Hotaru. And I agree with your reading of her relationship with the Inners/Outers (though when I was younger, I might have made her more of an outsider for TEH ANGST) XD

Semi offtopic: One image in the manga that always stuck with me was at the end of the SuperS arc, where Usagi, Mamoru, the Inners, and the other three Outers are all in their formal "prince/princess" attire, and standing in procession, while Hotaru and Chibi Usa sort of stand back and away, looking on, still in Senshi uniforms. Then Chibi Usa moves to stand with her parents, which made me realize... Hotaru would still be standing there alone, without even her friend beside her. ;_; That made me sad, and it started my belief in her "outsider" nature. (Of course, when I write my epic fic, Hotaru's going to dream of that moment... only to mentally add in Sephiroth by her side ^_^)

I love our Psychic Fangirl Link. ^^ I think the main thing about Sephiroth's usual laughter is that it's very, I dunno, "cultured"? I mean, even if it wasn't subdued, it would still be rich and elegant and... I dunno, very seemly. Which is really sexy and all, but I like the idea of Hotaru enjoying his more open, cheerful laughter. And I'm glad you agreed that the concept of fun is almost foreign to him. The poor guy doesn't seem like he had much fun in ShinRa, and I imagine disembodied alien moms don't exactly take you to the beach to play either. Hotaru's the first person who's ever tried to give him a normal life, and that's part of why he loves her so much.

*Whew* I'm so glad the smut scene worked. While Sephiroth is probably as horny as the next guy ;-), I see his sexual desire for Hotaru based on so much more than that; it's sort of melded with his love for her, so they're indivisible. I hoped to show a little of that in the scene. I worried that I rushed things too much (by the end of the fic, the "muse" had left me and I wanted to get it done or I never would XD). I probably should have expanded a bit more of the stuff before the, uh, climax. ;-) And I'm so glad I managed to make that scene where he tries to tell her how grateful he is emotionally powerful... I could so see it in my head, even hear his voice saying it, and I just hope I managed to get it out there. ^^

Haha, don't worry, they have a beach house. To be honest, I'd been vaguely considering a sort of sequel where, well, Sephiroth helps Hotaru with that sunburn. Think aloe vera. All over. ;D But really, it would just be smut and not much else, and as you said, it's kinda nice to have character introspection to go with it. Glad school is going well, and can't wait to read your next attempt... if I don't try something in the meantime. ;D
